How did they know my face?
I flew into Phnom Penh yesterday, my last leg from HKG to PNH was with Cathay Pacific. At the boarding gate in HKG all passengers were required to stare into a camera, no need to show their boarding pass. When it was my turn the camera knew who I was and even showed me my seat number on the screen. ...

Re: Titbits from PP / Garage bar & other venues
We have just arrived back in Phnom Penh for the first time in three years.
I remember drinking in Garage, the Riverside, White Cobra, Pickled Parrot, Howie's wall, and many others along the riverfront and in the GSM area, all of which now seem closed or "under redevelopment".

Re: Transfer in bkk
In one week I am booked to fly from the UK to Manila with KLM. Options were via Bangkok or via Singapore. Bangkok entailed an airside stopover, I would need to leave the KLM plane and board again a few minutes later, back to the same seat. however, I would have been subject to the full Thailand test...

I was always a beer drinker before, now I drink mainly wine or neat spirits (for health reasons).

Re: Vaccine anyone?
I still fail to see why its going to be mandatory to have the shot if you want to fly anywhere in the near future. Given that so far there is no proof that any of the vacancies do anything but protect the person who's been vaccinated. You can still get covid and pass it on as I understand. But if e...

My landlady had her first Covid-19 vaccination on Wednesday, my Mum had hers on Friday.
Their second injections are due 21 days after the first.
Seven days after the second jab they will both have full immunity.
Both say there were no problems, it is even easier than the flu jab.

The vaccines are designed to stop you catching and spreading the Chinese bat virus,
They will fight it and prevent you from becoming infected.

Viral infestations such as flu should surely be a thing of the past.

Re: Foreigner Quarantine on Arrival Price List
A deposit of $3K.
Will new arrivals need to keep their receipt in order to get the deposit back?
Will each departing passenger receive a $3,000 cash refund at airport departures, or might they be handed a plastic carrier bag containing 123,330 x 100 riel notes?

I suspect that the booze is innocent.
A poisoned dog seems far more likely.
