Re: What To See In Cambodia, Angkor Wat Tourist Guide
$12 gives him a $4 earn for a days work sitting on a bike, some minor tour guiding and the willingness to show you photos and tell stories of a depressing home life that would rock anyone's boat.. If he plays his cards right then he will earn a few extra bucks in tips, no problem.. $15 gives him a ...

Re: teaching memoirs of Cambodia
Walk in, do an honest job to the best of your abilities, don't let all the shit get you down and then walk out again at the end of the day with your head up. Don't get involved with the monkeys you work with and have some solid away-from-work hobbies or business interests. Sent from my HTC Desire u...

Re: Apparently a lot of "backpackers" are taking drugs?
It's everywhere in every country. It's not just the foreigners either. There are also young Cambodians on 'Yamma' and 'Ice'. Open your eyes, you will see the signs. I don't really care what people get up to. It's their choice. I'm not exactly 'clean' myself. I've had my years of 'partying' when I wa...

Re: Khmer bashing
I've been living in Cambodia for 2 and a half years. I love Cambodian people and when people ask me why I live here I say it's because of the Khmer people. They are genuinely some of the nicest people I've ever met. There are, however, good and bad people wherever you go and Cambodia is no exception...

Re: Where to meet regular locals?
Yes, I agree, Beer gardens are often a good way to meet people. They can be quite loud though! Local restaurants. You'll find that Cambodians are very friendly people and just by saying hello to people can result in a conversation and friendship!

Re: Making Money Online?..
If you want to make money out of blogs and adsense, you must learn SEO. Traffic = Money. Alternatively you can try article writing, there are a number of sites that pay for high quality articles on any subject. PTC is a waste of time. If you know about trading, Forex earns a decent living for some. ...

Ditch PPCTV and get CCTV. That's what I've got and it still has ESPN and Star Sports.

Yeah, I used to like the drunken sponge, was a nice place to sit at the bar and chill out? Does anybody know why it closed down?

Re: Medical
I've been unlucky enough to stay in 2 different hospitals in Cambodia in the 2 and a half years I've been here. The first one was at Calmette with typhoid. I would never stay again. It was terrible. The second was Royal Rattanak Hospital in Toul Kork. I had appendicitis. It was very good, but a lot ...

Re: The Cambodian Public School System
From my understanding most of what is posted here seems to happen a lot in Cambodia. I know one family that pays 2000KHR every day to the teacher, if they don't pay it their children fail. Simple. It doesn't matter how good or bad the student is, it depends on payment! The public schooling system is...

Re: Anything in Siem Reap
I know a few westerners working in bars and they work in the evenings so should give you enough time for your other work. It's a lot less paying than teaching. And I know you can get $10 an hour for teaching in SR. But from what I can see, if a REP gets 200USD per day, that might sound like your bes...

Re: No tax.
When I bought a bike, I paid $25 to register it and had all the paperwork and got a plate a few weeks later. I also paid 5000 KHR for a tax disc which I had to buy once per year.

Re: What To See In Cambodia, Angkor Wat Tourist Guide
Cheap tourists were paying 12USD when I still lived in REP 4 years ago. Show some heart for Christ sake. 15USD for a full day is ok. This price was arranged by the guesthouse I stayed in. I asked how much, they said $12. Maybe the hotel and tuk tuk driver were being cheap. I agree $15 for a whole d...
