Re: Foreigners banned from entry: Italy, Germany, Spain, France and the United States
Judging by China’s and Italy’s lower infection rates (because of lockdown, plus all the old people are dead) I’d say two months is about right . The US just added almost 5000 new cases, Germany over 500, small Switzerland over 600 (https://virusncov.com/). It'll get better in one country but worse ...

Re: Chinese Sign off on "$ Billions" New City in Ream
If it is neo colonialism is PB a fan? Or is colonialism vs neo co like the difference between bearded men then and now? Not sure, just semantics probably. But whatever the "correct" terminology may be, it's a form of colonialism and should get us concerned. The locals are certainly becoming very co...

Re: Are barang and other non-Chinese foreigners persona non-grata in Chinanoukville (Sihanoukville)?
I am quite sure though that refusing entry to anyone based on their race or nationality or whatever like some of the Chinese casinos apparently do in SHK would make front page news if it happened in the west.
Doubt that Cambodia has any racial discrimination laws and so nobody has tried to sue them.

Re: Are barang and other non-Chinese foreigners persona non-grata in Chinanoukville (Sihanoukville)?
Sounds like the OP has already made up his mind. Don’t know why he bothered to ask in the first place. It's a false rhetorical question based on a false premise, which includes ONLY Chinese businesses it seems. The title doesn't indicate a racially-based perspective/situation. I haven't heard any b...

Sounds like the OP has already made up his mind. Don’t know why he bothered to ask in the first place. I wanted to know what other people think or what their experiences have been yet apart from the first couple of good responses, I get a politically correct Russian and then you. All you do all day...

Re: Are barang and other non-Chinese foreigners persona non-grata in Chinanoukville (Sihanoukville)?
Chinese don't like westerners. In other words, because they're racists. Then again why would anyone want to go into those smoke filled dens full of sunflower seed spitting Chinese farmers gambling away their life savings? Decries racism and immediately follows up with racist comment. Not good justi...

Re: Sihanoukville Expressway construction begins
This is actually one of the few good, much needed development projects which I support, irrespective of who builds it (in this case a Chinese contractor). I feel however that Chinese building standards and their road design is rather poor when compared to the way the Thais build roads. For example, ...

Re: Are barang and other non-Chinese foreigners persona non-grata in Chinanoukville (Sihanoukville)?
Alright. Let me rephrase. Hitherto the foreigners in SHV were white trash. Now the foreigners there are Chinese trash who are pricing the welfare dependent white trash out, and sending them to Kampot. Either way it was and remains worthy of the name Shitsville. Better? I think barang, irrespective ...

Re: Are barang and other non-Chinese foreigners persona non-grata in Chinanoukville (Sihanoukville)?
From what I've heard/read, it's not somewhere any respectable westerner would go to anymore as it's full of trash and everything is Chinese owned now. Even the locals have moved out and so have most of the non-Chinese expats. So what’s changed? Where once it was full of white trash, now it’s full o...

Re: Chinese Sign off on "$ Billions" New City in Ream
Clearly, they are not doing this from the goodness of their heart. And no, I do not hate the Chinese. I think this is a very smart move. Why go to war with countries when you can buy them? I don't think it is very smart of the countries to take on debt they can't pay back, including many in America...

Re: Chinese Sign off on "$ Billions" New City in Ream
It’s not in China’s benefit to force countries to be in their debt for life. If the countries struggle to pay off loans then it hampers development. That’s the whole point of the Belt and Road - increase trade, invest in infrastructure so those countries are developed to then, yes you guessed it, b...
