Imported spirits are cheaper in cambodia than anywhere in Asia. I live in laos but work in PP often, and always buy 4x litre bottles from the shop next to Luckys on Sihanouk, wrap them well in clothes and pack them in my check-in case. Never any problems.

Re: Post Office Dramas - whats your experiences.
I've had a similar experience as Rusty, attempting to receive parcels and letters at the main PP post office since 2006. Nearly all have disappeared. Everything i have sent has arrived though, which might indicate that the stealing isn't happening at the PO. I travel a fair bit, and have the same ex...

Re: Tap water, strange smell, weird taste
The demand for water in the city exceeded the capacity of the treatment plant a while ago. Water then passes through the plant without enough sedimentation time, filters don't work properly, and additional chlorine is used to kill bacteria that clings to the extra particles that get through into the...

Re: Getting first British passport for British/Khmer kid
I got my kids first UK passport in 3.5 months last year. They did ask for further info like you say, but I could send it directly without involving VFS, and no interview.
I think it depends on how much info you provide the first time round - the more the better.

Re: Chinese in Sihanoukville
I hope some sort of advanced sewage treatment, is part of the plan down there. Snookyville is getting the current sewage treatment plant capacity increased and service extended to the whole town including Otřes starting early 2019. The 20s16 design didn't anticipate a Chinese invasion on the scale ...

Re: Koh Rong.... an accurate description?
Working on KR last year we met a local businessman several times who was setting up a wastewater treatment plant for the beach made from about 40 prefab septic tanks connected together. There were many problems with his design which meant that all the sewage would very quickly back up and spill all ...

Looks more like foundation blocks for a new building than anything to do with stormwater. Like they have dropped them off and will place them at low tide.

Re: Can American "legal advisor" Keith McCarter get you Cambodian citizenship, work permit, teaching job, and apartment?
In Laos paying an agent or “legal firm” to get you an annual work permit/stay permit and the multi-entry visa these come with is very common. Most foreigners without fixed job contracts in Laos use this service, including me. It is not strictly legal, as you are supposed to actually work for the com...

Re: DHL Scam
That's poor service. On the other hand I've used DHL dozens of times both in PP and Vientiane, never had problems or been hit up for import tax, even on items costing $2K. I even import kava from Fiji which comes as very dubious looking vacuum packed bricks of brown powder, and customs have never ra...

Re: Phnom Penh's Plumbing Problem
Somewhat related, I just read: On February 2, the ADB signed a USD100 million loan facility agreement with China Everbright International Limited to help build a series of municipal waste-to-energy (WTE) plants in primary and secondary cities in the Mekong Delta in Vietnam. This initiative will be ...
