Re: Any views on this welcomed
Isn't gavinmac into bar games? Yes, but I'll never play Connect Four with a dude. 'Tis gay. It seems the OP's new friends were inviting him to play Liar's Dice . As far as I can tell, it's a legitimate drinking game. I can't find anything online about people using the drinking game as a prelude to ...

Re: What are the first line antibiotics in Cambodia?
I know any physicians reading this will freak out for me asking this question, because I'm supposed to see a doctor and trust him. However, reality is, a lot of us do not trust doctors (especially in this country) or simply don't have a 50-100 dollars to visit a supposedly good clinic when we have ...

Re: What are the first line antibiotics in Cambodia?
Some of us are going to self medicate in a country like this and not have insurance, that's a fact. If you pay insurance and doctor's visits for me I'll be happy to accept, otherwise don't judge me for the decision I make when prioritizing my limited budget. Consider yourself lucky you're able to a...

Re: School for illiterate young adults?
Does anyone know any school or foundation that develops life skills for illiterate young adults who never had a chance to attend school while growing up? There are hundreds of NGOs, churches, and schools devoted to teaching Khmer (and English) literacy to children but I have not found one which exi...

Re: The French
we finally have a thread topic that has the power to unite the entire 440 community Not the entire, only the ~90% or so "anglo-centric" majority.. most others don't give much of a toss about French, Belgians, Dutch or Germans, in fact they're just random European countries, but Brits and to a lesse...

Re: Long flights. How do you cope ?
I've been flying home to Canada a lot lately. These long flights are hard to get used to. Getting drunk before the flight is not really the answer. Sure sometimes you can pass out. But then you have to piss. I've used some of the otc pharmaceutical remedies. Some work.. some dont. My itinerary usua...

Re: How to end bag snatchings
With all of the recent talk of bag snatching victims in PP, I perked up when I was just talking to an old sailor that was stationed in Olongapo City in the Philippines in the early 80s, and he said that the bag/necklace/etc snatchings were getting so bad that the government decided to put a stop to...

Re: What are the first line antibiotics in Cambodia?
However, reality is, a lot of us do not trust doctors (especially in this country) or simply don't have a 50-100 dollars to visit a supposedly good clinic when we have an infection. This is not going to change anytime in the future unless the entire medical profession restructures and becomes somet...

Re: General Concerns of an 18 Year Old Brit
OP, what others are not telling you, and you probably don't realize is how much of a culture shock you will face if coming from England to Cambodia. Especially if it's your first time travelling. Just because it looks good on paper, in real life you will have to deal with a lot of third world issues...
