Re: Robbery Season # 2
So due to the fact the salary is low pocketing and corruption is acceptable. Interesting justification. So all the poor folks can head down lucky supermarket take what they like and walk out without paying? it is not a justification, just the fact. you are on the other hand are driving in the forei...

Re:
How is enforcing the law an example of robbery? Wear a helmet, have a licence and obey the road rules. Simple! Enforcement of the law requires receipt issued, payment of correct fine and the money put into public funds. Deposit of the cash into the cops personal new year beer fund equates to robber...

Robbery Season # 2
I am currently in Koh Kong. Usually one can ride a Moto here without helmet, place, license or regard for the rules of the road. Last couple of days the cops are everywhere stopping folks in their droves. I wonder what could have precipitated this burst of activity. Is there a new road safety campai...

Re: Engagement with Cambodian woman complex
Some good points here amongst the expected responses. I think we can all take the natural assumption from the OPs lack of detail around the circumstances of meeting quite what had happened. A positive outcome is most unlikely. You should judge the family with the same vigour as you judge the girl. I...

Re: Hibiscus Garden Bungalows Sihanoukville for sale
I remember vividly the last meal I had there. It took so long to come I was leaving by the time the first of our dishes finally showed up. The owner was just sat at the bar with cigarette in one hand and very large red wine in the other looking like the most stressed person in SHV while failing to t...

Re: WTF is happening to all these planes lately?
I've done some maths on this - 2,268 fatalities in air crashes since February, 2014. This is a massive increase on any previous comparable time span. Yes, I know that more people are flying nowadays, but still a huge proportional increase. At a random comparison with, say, 2011, there were 473 fata...

http://www.theguardian.com/world/datablog/2014/dec/29/aircraft-accident-rates-at-historic-low-despite-high-profile-plane-crashes Here are a few numbers to digest. a commercial jet crashing every couple of months on average is pretty normal. If you think sorya bus is better odds then best of luck. Th...

Re: UK General Election thread
It not UKIP who will be the king makers. The SNP are predicted to get 50 seats and look likely to hold the balance of power. Unfortunately they are a bunch of clowns and will cause chaos. I predict a further election within a matter of months. Some of Salmonds comments in the last few days are unbel...

Re: New Year break in Koh Kong
Have stayed at City hotel. Located on the river near the bridge. Think it was 15 a night. Functional but clean and well located. To echo Vlad, Cafe Laurent is excellent.

Honda price list
I seem to recall somebody putting up the price list from one of the Honda dealerships a while back but can't seem to find it now. Can anybody point me in the right direction please.

Re: Phnom Penh airport expansion
I have arrived on Qatar previously. I seem to recall the aircraft was an A330 so the runway can accommodate larger aircraft. Not sure about 747s or A380 but there is certainly scope for the Middle East carriers without a longer runway.
