Anthony Alderson (FCC PP and SR) RIP
https://www.fcccollection.com/our-story/ Rest in peace. Anthony and Kelly were great people to have in P Penh, starting from 1995.Friendly guy with good business sense. He gave me some very good advice in the early 2000s. Many of us were fond of him, and he died much too soon. I understand it was u...

Re: WHERE TO STAY IN CAMBODIA
Not sure. I am currently working with someone in Cambodia on a project, and have plans to get there well before April. Too hot for me then. How many people (expats) do I still know? Know and like? or just know? Know from face-to-face, or know from the forums? From the 90s days, I have one close frie...

Re: WHERE TO STAY IN CAMBODIA
I usually stay at The Juliana when I'm in Phnom Penh. Pool is lovely, rooms are small but very quiet and comfortable, and the food is good.

Re: THAT's not sport!
Brilliant! Simone is such an athlete, and I have to agree with you, Violet. Gymnastics is a sport. The "flippy spinny sh*t" was fun to listen to, J. Lambo. Darts is a drunken diversion, and I'd like a dollar for every dart that pierced flesh as a mate was walking between the thrower and the target. ...

Re: No Joke Dead
His videos were never boring. I'm so sorry for his family's loss. He was a born entertainer.
His mother has disclosed personal information about his demise, and I'm sure her son would have appreciated her letting his fans and followers know what happened.
RIP, No Joke.

Re: Love and Loss in Cambodia: A Memoir
You can get a kindle app for a phone or tablet. I have both but at the end of the day nothing feels better than a book in the hand. I agree. That said, I use a Kindle app on my phone and on my computer for when that works out better. I have a Kindle Unlimited membership so I can read a lot of diffe...

Re: Love and Loss in Cambodia: A Memoir
Thanks to everyone for supporting my book. I spent 18 hours yesterday making some corrections to it. Just dumb stuff that gets missed---defining acronyms after they've been used a few pages previously, stuff like that. And there were a lot of acronyms then, like there are now. My computer also chang...

Re: On Being Back
@ LuckyLucan--- Your first longer post was especially good. Addressing your second: I lived in SHV during its Halcyon days, for sure. I am aware of its many names ;) And I do realize that teens are teens the world around, and social media has also changed their culture, as it's changed every culture...

Re: On Being Back
A side note--LTO was planning a move to Myanmar. He'd had enough of the changes. Better may be subjective, but the 2000s have seen an explosion of building and traffic in Phnom Penh, which used to seem a much more Cambodian city. You may have been finding it annoying because the city of Phnom Penh i...

Re: On Being Back
Memory is a way of holding on to the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose.” Kevin Arnold “The Wonder Years.” Phnom Penh and the expat community, along with Sihanoukville, hold strong memories for me. When I moved to Phnom Penh in 1994, three foreigners had recently ...

Re: Love and Loss in Cambodia: A Memoir
Horace Johnny Flash's father came over to Cambodia a few days after he died. I didn't know the family as John and I were only friends in Cambodia (though both American). But they needed someone to take them around to the embassy and to try to find out where John banked and get his money out, and to...
