Re: How do you get around town? Poll.
I’m surprised there’s only 1 car owner. There must be fewer Americans in the group than I thought. The reason being that as a foreigner, Cambodian laws made it difficult for foreigner to buy and own a car. To rent a car is very expensive for an average tourists and not well established here. It not...

Re: Cambodians Who Refuse to Drink Alcohol

Teetotaling Cambodians clearly can't be trusted. https://i.postimg.cc/C53MJRJJ/Screenshot-2024-03-12-192419.jpg I'd like to see original Khmer text. Facebook translate is...

Re: British expats and the state pension
My giddiness at saving £3 ish a week following the chancellors autumn announcement was premature. I got a letter this week saying the new rate is £3.45 a week. So I investigated more, turns out the abolishment of class2 Nat ins doesn’t apply to those living and working abroad. But paying £3.45 a we...

Cyril, are you a grown-up? Have you ever done any banking before.
Honestly the process isn't difficult. You've been told what you need to do. No easier way to explain it.

You hear it too?
That klaxon that goes off when a foreigner enters the pharmacy. The 'quick lads double the prices' klaxon.

Self employed class 2 costs around £160 / year. And from next year it is free. Class 2 was £3.45 a week and those working abroad are eligible. Here is a link with more info: https://www.gov.uk/voluntary-national-insurance-contributions/who-can-pay-voluntary-contributions Nice and simple. Thanks. Be...

Re: British expats and the state pension
Im not sure about the maths, but my feeling is that it will be worth it. I had nearly 20 years of employer contributions then was making c.£160 per year voluntary contritions when i move here. I need to make maybe 10 more years contributions - and for the next while they will be free. So its a real ...

Re: Lucky Supermarket, all prices are now in khmer riel
Just like at the gas station, when you ask for 2 liters, at the price of 3000KHR/L = 6000KHR, which should be 1,5 USD and you can see on the pump the price of 1,46 being displayed. That’s outrageous! I hate being raped on by getting it 4 cents CHEAPER than I want to pay. Often i demand to pay the h...

Re: British expats and the state pension
Bear in mind you may have to live a while to make it worth it. I looked into this a couple of years ago and I think the money saving expert Martin Lewis had a calculator I'm due my pension at 67 and it reckoned if I lived to 70 and older I would be better off..even making class 4 contributions whic...
