To say I was at the Australian Embassy all day I think being on 130st today is a total lie. What I was doing at the Australian Embassy is between me and you.Though I was on 130st last night and was confronted by Mark Grant carrying a knife, a guy called Niel ex owner of Angel bar.And another Guy,thi...

Taking investment advice from a down and out in Cambodia.
Some people are just so stupid that they pretty much deserve what they get.
He should look on the bright side: at least his greed and idiocy has hopefully saved him from a bigger hit further down the line.

Re: Alcohol Ban?
I was at a prominent riverside restaurant for lunch. Asked if I could have a beer, waitress said ‘no sir, we are not allowed to sell’ with a big smile on her face. Then she leant in and conspiratorially whispered, but if you want one I can. But I need to bring it in a teapot. There was nobody else ...

Re: H&M announces first Cambodian store
Presumably, you haven't seen Thais in their woolly hats and jackets during the 1/2 weeks a year when the temperature occasionally drops below 20c in and around Bangkok. That's a thing here too. I do remember having socks on while in bed in Phnom Penh for a couple of weeks in January one year. I thi...

Re: H&M announces first Cambodian store
I’ve always found it strange that H&M stores in Thailand stock the same products as their stores in the West. Prepare to see Cambodians wearing winter clothing designed for European weather. Presumably, you haven't seen Thais in their woolly hats and jackets during the 1/2 weeks a year when the tem...

Re: Local brews. What are you drinking?
Nope. I like Lager, Pilzner, Weissbier and some ales but those craft beers not so much. I wouldn't even drink them if they were 50 cents. I'm glad someone likes them but they aren't for everyone. Some of those craft beers are absolutely dire. Those rancid IPAs that taste like washing up liquid? No ...

Re: RIP Brett Sciaroni - Page 3
I knew Brett for 20 years. There are a couple of things about him that no one has mentioned. First and foremost, he was a proud American patriot who championed freedom and liberty his entire adult life. He was unwavering in his commitment to those ideals. Second, Brett was an extremely hard worker....

Re: They left that place a shithole
The place was always pretty crummy. A port with a semi-derelict rail head and nothing else going on. Some intrepid whiteys came along and built some businesses on the beach, but with the regular bulldozing of these it was hardly surprising that nobody wanted to invest more. It was like a low-rent v...

Sounds like some machine if it can roast sprouts and broccoli to perfection too.

^ My dad is over 65 and has been doing intermittent fasting since he was diagnosed as being (just) diabetic about 2 or 3 years ago. This was on the advice of his doctor, who also does the same, and after his last MOT in October of 2020 he was back down to pre diabetic, so it certainly has its benefi...

Re: Girl pays more attention to phone than street, falls into canal and drowns
It's terrible to think that falling into any deep body of water for most Cambodians - and others in the region - is usually gonna mean death. Learning to swim should be compulsory while they're at school.

I used to live past Wat Phnom and we didn't get too much up there, but those pictures remind me of what it was like when we got closer to town after a heavy downpour.
Why does it get so bad though? Is just it down to inadequate drainage systems?
