Re: Australia’s SOS - Christine Anderson - from the EU Parliament.
The argument about vaccine mandates is happening at completely the wrong level as this thread shows, it’s just descended into tribalist politics, the argument is far more fundamental than that. It’s a question of basic human rights and more specifically why we as believers in democracy require unive...

Re: American Heart Assn warning on mRNA vax
At this point half the population has Stockholm syndrome so bad that politicians could tell them literally anything and they would swallow it.

Re: American Heart Assn warning on mRNA vax
The major side effect of concern was heart inflammation (vs clotting for Astra Zeneca), so this is unsurprising to learn. However, it will be interesting to see what happens in the short to medium term - and what governments will do if there is an increase in heart related issues - try to ignore/ex...

Re: Cambodia is on course to be the next Asian Tiger, and that is good news for America.
My reasoning is that to become an Asian Tiger you generally need multiple companies that are competitive and innovative on a global scale, think Samsung, Hon Hai (Foxconn), AIA, Sea (Shopee). I just can't see companies of that pedigree emerging from anywhere else in Asian but Malaysia or Vietnam (at...

Malaysia will probably be next to achieve high income nation status. It wouldn't surprise me if Vietnam made it one day, but I think the rest of Asean will get stuck at middle income level for a very long time.

Re: Cambodia is on course to be the next Asian Tiger, and that is good news for America.
Is it doing materially worse than Thailand was at this point in its development? At least Cambodia is still having children. Asian tiger economies have also cannibalized on a demographic dividend, with a transitory period of a low ratio of dependent people to workers. Something which of course is n...

Re: Cambodia is on course to be the next Asian Tiger, and that is good news for America.
I don’t think it’s possible for Cambodia to become an Asian tiger on its current trajectory. GDP growth is ultimately a barometer of efficiency gains and for Cambodia the current drivers of starting from a low base and its demographic dividend (young population) will only carry it so far. To level u...

Re: Brexdemic - Page 12
I wonder how long it is before the much vaunted opening up of global travel is blocked for U.K. citizens? If I were a tourism minister around the world I’d be looking at U.K. visitors very seriously. Fortunately for us all the people that make such decisions (usually) understand statistics and how ...

Re: Brexdemic
Probably because they spent the last 1-2 years championing ever harsher response measures and telling us about post lockdown end of days scenarios.
Then we opened up completely and nothing……
Reminds me a lot of Brexit actually.

Re: Brexdemic - Page 11
Infection numbers in Britain are currently much higher than in other western European countries , with more than 30,000 new cases reported every day this month The UK also conducts more tests that any other major country by a significant margin, the last number I saw was 4000 tests per 1000 people,...

Doing wonderfully well post Brexit Fred. https://i.postimg.cc/3RnP7msV/59e61b9c06fca07c00180579.jpg That's pre-Brexit you moron. Brexit happened on the 31st of January 2020. In fact the IMF are predicting UK growth to be 7% for 2021 and 4.6% for the Euro Area. Report can be downloaded here: https:/...

To be fair they probably did, under sub section 3.2.8 titled Plague and Pestilence.
