Re: English English teacher arrested
Indeed yes. To Sharkey's we took one of the girls who was 6 or 7 at the time. A Rolling stones cover band, strangely excellent, fronted by a chick, was playing. Would that I could find them again. she danced at least part of the night way in front of the band, sat at the bar drinking a Shirley Templ...

Re: English English teacher arrested
As`an amusing aside, when we had about 5 kids with us at the beach in Sville, my gf did inform me that the tuk-tuk and moto guys were giving me ribald congratulations on my evident fertility and virility, mistaken as it turns out.

Re: English English teacher arrested
I'm addressing the comments made throughout this thread about suspicious looks and hostility directed at guys with kids and about the fear created. I din't live ion Cambodia. I come here from time to time to visit a Kapuchea Krom girlfriend who lives in VN and who has family members in PP. She has a...

Re: Goning local on the Chowline #3 vegitarian
Was out there again today after catching up on my latest Homeland and Madmen seasons at toul tom pong. had a kind of Chinese hot and sour soup. Very subtle flavors. The place is kind of open air but strangely often looks closed. run by low key girls that have a village charm.

Re: New Years Eve Boat Cruise?
Nope. But I was out at the riverfront at midnight and saw at least 10 party boats each with a few people on them cruising up the river at midnight. shame the 440 hotshots did not get something going.

New Years Eve Boat Cruise?
A few years`ago I was here for NYE and did a boat cruise w. free flow of food and beer and liquor for $20. It may have been semi-private. We cruised under the fireworks and it was quite good. Anything like that around now?

Re: New Minibuses
Took Golden Bayon from pp to sville a few days ago. Very good service. Driving was done very well and attentively. No complaints about safety. Got us there in a bit more than 4 hours WITH about 20 mins stop for lunch. Shook the guys hand on arrival. The Khmer food at the stop was not cheap [10k riel...

Re: Avoid Air Asia's booking fees?
"advertising approach and business model I don't think you're in for any surprises and you can back out at every stage of the booking process. You get what you pay for." I has not been my experience that their bogus insurance, for one thing, is easy to deselect. I work in a profession were careful r...

Kids chorus - Christmas Carols at Le Royale
A couple of years ago I was in the elephant Bar at Le Royale when a whole flotilla of dressed up little kids [about 30 or 40] came in and did the most charming concert of Christmas carols. They were quite good musically too. As i found out they are from the Adventist school in PP. I don't like relig...

Re: Avoid Air Asia's booking fees?
Maybe. Sometimes.
Cambodia Angkor Air turned out significantly cheaper than Air Asia for a short notice flight BKK to PP for me this week.
More to the point it is very offputing to deal with a company whose business model includes irritating scams in every transaction. It is a personal affront.

Re: Cambodia Angkor Air and Hanoi
just flew them yesterday from bkk to pp. cheap, about $us97 total including an acceptable meal and beverage, 20kg free check in luggage. downside - their website would not process my credit card. i had to bring cash to their bkk office [chitlom skytrain]. the girl there told me that others had that ...

MORE
they also have this "select you own seat for more money" option, with seats permanently painted a 'preferred" color on every plane. This too is an irritating scam.

Re: Avoid Air Asia's booking fees?
Air Asia will and do screw you right, left and center. 1. no the $5 does not go to the credit card company. only a very very small percentage does if any. it is functionally impossible not to incur this charge. 2. they deliberately try to trick you into buying their useless overpriced insurance by m...
