Re: Should over-the-counter opiates be banned in Cambodian pharmacies?
...Should there be a ban? That's a tough one - will it save a few lives? Undoubtedly but Cambodia isn't a nanny state and that's one of the reasons most of us love it here don't we? +1 And if Cambodia does start down the path of banning and enforcing such things, it won't be because they are becomi...

Re: Foreigners Collecting Garabage

I can't think of a young Khmer that doesn't hate tobacco. Somebody mentioned no social cohesion here. That's exactly it. Have yo...

Re: Should over-the-counter opiates be banned in Cambodian pharmacies?
There actually exists a schedule of controlled pharmaceutical drugs in Cambodia. It covers all the big gun pain killers, analgesics, benzodiazepines and antibiotics. However most pharmacies will ignore this restriction and all to anybody because of the lack of punitive measures or repercussions. I ...

What do think would happen if uppers were made legal over-the-counter in pharmacies here? Apart from the huge loss in government, army and police revenue that is?Alexandra wrote:Survival of the fittest. This is not your nanny state.

Re: Should opiates be banned in Cambodian Pharmacies?
It's not a question of should they be controlled; it's more a question of how, and would they? You've been in the country a long time so you know such debates are academic and the reality is that it will continue irrespective of any change of laws. Just last week, pharmacies were being criticised f...

Should over-the-counter opiates be banned in Cambodian pharmacies?

Young, seemingly healthy, men in their 20's have died with all too regular frequency from heart attacks as well. A lot of expats usua...
