Re: CCTV in bars
So each time a customer of yours orders a beer, they get a chit? Then, when it's time to pay, they give all of the chits to the cashier to then add up and give a total bill? That seems like a shitty system in a dark, loud, drunken and hectic environment. Do they not just update the bill each time s...

CCTV in bars
Yes mistakes are made. I’m still searching for this Korean guy who drugs, rapes, and robs bargirls and ladyboys. He apparently partly does it in retaliation for being robbed of his expensive phone and jewelery by a ladyboy a couple of years ago. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180319/5f27dde1cebe...

Re: CCTV in bars
Surely you wouldn't hear any conversations over the dreadful loud music. Correct. We had an audio feed in one of our bars for a while, but its purpose was to monitor the music remotely, to check that the staff hadn’t put on hip hop crap or khmer music while the manager wasn’t in the bar. It was imp...

French man under investigation for luring underage women
The age of consent for a sex worker here is 18. Certainly in our bars we are definitely not allowed to have any staff under 18 years old. This case is a grey area if he gradually induced her into giving him sex in return for money. Edited in light of Gardiguy’s post below. Sent from my iPhone using ...

Re: Robert Schmalohr Arrested by Cambodian Authorities
There's a pattern here. When a foreigner is accused of abusing young females, they are immediately condemned. If a gay foreigner is accused of abusing young men, that's just homophobia. At the same time there has been a lack of corroborating evidence in this case. I’m puzzled. Were five underage bo...

Re: Importing household stuff from Oz....In a shipping container
Looks like I paid $18.75 customs duty and fees on $2,100 declared value used goods! Plus you get quite a cool x-ray of the container to check you aren’t importing a car. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180220/e1e8066de192af1b85f42dca9c41dd26.jpg https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180220/c03960c23...

Re: Importing household stuff from Oz....In a shipping container
I can’t offer any specific details , just general encouragement. I had also heard horror stories but it turned out to be fairly straightforward and not that expensive. It did involve a tax contact in Phnom Penh and a fixer in Sihanoukville, plus a helpful import/customs agent. I arrived in Sihanoukv...

Re: Traffic cops
A few years ago I was stopped by a couple of traffic cops for riding my moto the wrong way up a one way street. After some negotiation I handed over $2 and turned my moto around to ride back the correct way down the street. One of the police said “no, no, you pay fine already you can keep going the ...

Worrying arrest for unauthorised working?
This Aussie guy was arrested by immigration for helping his wife sell oranges on a street stall. He was possibly on a tourist visa. Or a business visa with no work permit? Apparently the local populace weren’t happy about his arrest and asked the police why they weren’t out arresting all the illegal...

Rumours are the new owner also has a share of Shenanigans in street 13 and the Cadillac/Manhattan new combined bar on riverside.
