Re: Tourists attack tuk tuk driver due to inability to find a ladyboy for them
It amazes me that anyone would take the side of a tuk tuk driver in a story where the facts are mostly unknown. These people are the most untrustworthy, conniving, thieving pieces of shit in Cambodian society. I would trust a random homeless person or a streetwalking hooker before I would place any ...

A Expat is someone who lives in Phnom Penh and has no intention of having sex with a Bargirl, you are just here for the culture Right. :help:  Be gentle with me i'ts my fir...

Cambodian independence is a disaster. Imagine how much better the country would be if it had remained a French protectorate and was now a French overseas territory.

Re: Are the Chinese taking over Sihanoukville?
Since the tuk-tuk drivers in snooky were really vicious assholes, it is good thing that the town is getting taken over If only the Chinese would eat the tuk-tuk drivers. Right, I don't see it as all that bad either. In fact, globally I'd like to see more takeovers of shithole places. "Oh look, the ...

Ok, so basically some dodgy guy visits a dodgy bar and there's video evidence of him throwing a piece of paper on the ground. Whatever man.

Re: What Education and Skills Development Could Benefit Cambodia Most?
I like to think of Cambodia as a car that has been totaled. It's damaged beyond repair. I mean really, skills and education are great and the country could certainly see some benefit from better schools but I feel like when you reach a certain level of backwardness, dysfunction, and corruption, you'...

Re: How do the locals and other foreigners in Cambodia treat you?
Cambodians are pretty much the exact opposite of the Japanese in every meaningful way: dishonorable, untrustworthy, no manners, corrupt, poorly educated, etc. It's like comparing the Swiss with Somalians...the differences are so huge that there's really no point in even making the comparison.

Really is amazing how many utterly insane people from the UK end up in South East Asia.

Re: Transfer money out of Cambodia
Keep in mind that, if it's going to an American bank account, the Bank Secrecy Act will require the bank to report the transaction to the federal government.topinorode wrote:Can I transfer more than $10,000 from my Cambodian bank account (Acleca) to a foreign bank account?

Try the Yung Hout Guest House. I enjoyed my stay there back in 2014. Cheap, good location for a first time visitor, and a decent restaurant downstairs. At least that's how it was when I was there.

Re: Language Corps: what do you think?
A belated update. LanguageCorp is defunct after the ?owner? ?one of the business partners? had a motorcycle accident a year or so ago. There was a thread about it. He owes a couple of his longstanding khmer staff a couple of grand each but his head injuries from the accident have left him incapable...

Re: Grab car is entering the market
I use Grab in the Philippines on a daily basis. It's fantastic. The competition between Grab and Uber is fierce here in the Philippines and they're both constantly trying to out do each other on promotions. Several times I've had trips of two or three kilometers that cost me less than 50 cents US du...
