not possible to get visa extension in TP. HCM direct
The Immigration office (now at 196 Nguyễn Thị Minh Khai, phường 6, Quận 3, Hồ Chí Minh) a 15 minute sweltering brisk walk N and E of the old office on Nguyen Du *looks* straightforward and welcoming. Get N14/M form ar kiosk on next floor up from basement, take a number (press screen), wait, stumble ...

Re: fastest & easiest vis for short trip to China
15-day visa valid (must use within) 30 days takes 3 working days in Hanoi via travel agent.
$175
China clearly is not welcoming tourists to apply outside of their own countries. Some Europeans get same visa for 1/3 price.

Re: Least arctic AC bus to Saigon?
All buses stop for a meal break just before the border. Mekong Expess stops at a shithole of a place with awful food and disgusting toilets in Bavet. Giant Ibis stops in an air-conditioned duty free mall. You are possibly the cheapest poster on 440 hermespan. You make vlad appear profligate. If you...

good news and bad news
Mekong Express No surrises. It is a Cambodian bus company. Don't expect a bus as it would be in Korea or Singapore. The only thing that really matters was acceptable - the AC was not at all too cold. In fact it barely functioned. Cannot comment thiroughly as still not reached border pluses - only 14...

Least arctic AC bus to Saigon?
Comfort is more important than speed and price For me, those factors are... 1. air conditioning not like Inuvik, Canada, can control and mild 2. leg room - not designed for miniature Viets 3. suspension good (old man's back) 4. no air horn. But heck, I can use earplugs 5. no loud TV. See above Numbe...

To heck with airplane to Vietnam. Bus makes more sense. Domestic airfare (HCM->HAN) reasonable and frequent.

Re: Is the PP China embassy issuing 10 year visas to 'Merica
I know a US citien who got one here for $480 or $460. No references. No photos. No info really. Just money talks. Through an agent. However he said he would have to leave China every 30 days, so it's clearly targeted to frequent travellers, not people who want to teach ESL or otherwise work/hang out...

Re: fastest & easiest vis for short trip to China
Lucky L can do a same day multi-entry visa for Vietnam (at least for our citizenships) in 9 hours on this business day. China remains a mystery how much it will cost and how long it will take in Vietnam. Surprised me LL didn't know. Maybe they have business reasons to not share what they do know. My...

Re: fastest & easiest vis for short trip to China
time sensitive question: Is it faster to get a China visa in Hanoi or PNH?
My concern is the fact that it is almost the weekend and all of today in PNH will be take up getting the VN visa. So we arrive in Hanoi on Saturday (if ae choose to get only VN visa here).

Re: fastest & easiest vis for short trip to China
Thank you Logos. The problem is the weekend. Seeking visas two at a time. And our limited time. Does China still have the policy of visas being issued in HCMC instead of Hanoi? And not dealing direct with applicants? I found it bizarre that in order to get a China visa I had to have it sent to comme...

Re: fastest & easiest vis for short trip to China
Have reconsidered. Niw plan is 4-6 days in Vietnam followed by a land border crossing into China 'near' Hanoi. Problem I forsee is we want to get out of Cambodia and into Vietnam and China toute suite. However the logistics don't work. Obviously we can't have our passports in two Embassies at the sa...

fastest & easiest vis for short trip to China
China has become as much of a pain in the ass as USA regarding easy, cheap and fast visas. Anyway, the spirit has moved me to visit China (real China not some Special Economic Zone). But it's Thursday afternoon and I want to party there Sunday. The usual popular visa intermediary will provide two 30...

Ha Tien border changing
New facilities almost finished larger and presumably will be high-tech. When I crossed there was zero luggage inspection, zero x-raying of luggage despite presence of machines, zero fingerprints or photos. At either side. Yes, standard computer check but none of the other Big Brother stuff. However ...
