The Chinese woman is probably feeling very lucky to be arrested in Cambodia on these charges. Back home, possession of a firearm gets you the death penalty.

Re: Three Tourists Escape Lightning on Koh Rong
Surprised there are still any "white" tourists left there. Thought it's all Chinese now. Chinese can be just as white (if not more so) than barang, mainly because they stay out the sun. Not sure they’re into this whitening cream. That's a good point. Of course I was referring to us barang (Caucasia...

Re: Are barang and other non-Chinese foreigners persona non-grata in Chinanoukville (Sihanoukville)?
From what I've heard/read, it's not somewhere any respectable westerner would go to anymore as it's full of trash and everything is Chinese owned now. Even the locals have moved out and so have most of the non-Chinese expats. So what’s changed? Where once it was full of white trash, now it’s full o...

Re: Concern about immigration (bad border crossing incident) issue crossing back from HCMC to Phnom Penh via bus
I don't know if this story is real or not (a bit too much emphasis on the whole beer purchase) but all I can say is if it is real, despite the fact that yelling is considered impolite and uncouth in this part of the world, there is zero possibility of it affecting his immigration status in Cambodia,...

Are barang and other non-Chinese foreigners persona non-grata in Chinanoukville (Sihanoukville)?
Since the Chinese invaded Sihanoukville and turned into a low budget shabby version of Macau that can only be described as "Chinanoukville" I have heard stories of westerners and other foreigners being barred access to Chinese casinos for no other reason than those Chinese don't like westerners. In ...

Re: Cambodia turning into China - yet another Chinese megacity project to destroy Cambodian sovereignty and the environm
I bet it won’t happen in that utopia of Thailand. I agree. The Thais are smart and fiercely proud of their independence. A lot smarter than the Cambodian leadership (not to mention the Lao and Burmese). I think foreigners who still decide to live in Cambodia will eventually find they're no longer w...

Re: Expat leaving. CRF 250 X for sale
I was probably one of the last Barangs that got a second hand bike registered. Its all legally in my name with license plate and registration card. What's with all these silly laws in Cambodia? Foreigners can't buy used bikes? Why the hell not? Who comes up with this nonsense? What about used cars?...

Re: Expat leaving. CRF 250 X for sale
I thought barangs are NOT allowed to buy used bikes in Cambodia We're not. My understanding is can buy and it's not illegal to use the card of the last owner but probably impossible to put in your name. What that means for insurance etc. I don't know but pain in the neck if you want to cross border...

Damn, check out the bull bar on that truck: https://cne.wtf/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/%E1%9F%A1-173.jpg That would seriously fuck someone up, hence them becoming illegal in most of the West. Not to mention the light rack, that would blind an oncoming moto. That's a pretty flash ride for the manage...

Re: Cambodians Kidnap Chinese
The Chinese man doesn't have an occupation, that's why his occupation was "unknown". Unless you call gambling for Chinese back home a job, which it isn't. But that's what these young Chinese males are all doing in SE Asia (except Thailand, the only country where gambling is strictly prohibited).

Re: Cambodian population to reach 17.5 mln by 2025
Because the commies killed more men than women, or because the guys are going more abroad to look for work? I was thinking the disparity would mainly be among the middle-aged or elderly. I'm not sure that there's a huge gender imbalance in those going abroad to work, women make up perhaps 40%. At l...

Re: Cambodian population to reach 17.5 mln by 2025
They'll be doing something about reducing fertility, that's for sure. However, even if everyone only had one child there would still be an exponential increase in the population for some time to come, something which we can see in China's case (although China's population is finally expected to star...
