Re: Can your kids speak English
Joon, I'm sure you already know, but in case you don't, if you or your husband have a French passport, you have the option to send your kids to the French school near Wat Phnom. It is cheaper than other international schools and even if the fees are still too high, as a French citizen you are entitl...

Re: Can your kids speak English
I have a very odd case in my 2nd grade class. I have a 100% Khmer 2nd grader ( girl) who is indeed being raised by 2 local Khmer parents. I guess the mother and father who are both near-fluent in English ( Asian Accent) decided to ONLY speak English to their daughter. So she is beyond the #1 Englis...

Re: Can your kids speak English
My kids spoke primarily Khmer through their mid toddler years. Is that because you also spoke Khmer ? No. That's because everybody else around them, including their primary care givers, spoke Khmer. I deliberately did not speak Khmer around them so as not to infect them with my bad pronunciation an...

Re: Shady and Arrogant people
I have no dog in this fight and it's possible for me to agree with C2U on some aspects AND gm on others. A) Is it possible that C2U had an almost week long sickness completely and entirely due to a coke and absolutely not related in any way to being diagnosed with Hep A? Yes. Likely? No. The odds ar...

Interesting! I had no idea it was feasible. Too late for me but useful tip for other people I'm sure.

Re: Police check
Last March, I went through the process of getting a police clearance from Cambodia in view of getting Australian PR. It is not possible to obtain it from abroad, so I booked a trip to PP in order to get it done. The steps outlined above by PSD Kiwi are the correct ones, with one caveat: I failed at ...

Re: Capital Punishment Poll
I was 16 when this Franquin comic strip introduced me to the absurdity of the death penalty. Translation: Strip 1: The law is clear: any man convicted of murder shall have his head cut off. Send him off to the executioner! Strip 2: This way my friend Strip 5: A job well done... Strip 7: I'm sorry, b...

Re: Deadly terror attack on Paris Charlie Hebdo mag
I was especially shocked to hear that Cabu was amongst the victims. For a lot of people of my generation (which I think Joon might be part of) he was part of our childhood as a contributor to the Club Dorothee children show we all watched when we were kids.

Re: ISPP Board Racist?
However, doesn't the French school also do the IB for something like $7k per year? If that is true, where is the value add by sending them to ISPP or Northbridge? It does not. It offers the French baccalaureate which is a different beast from the International Baccalaureate offered by Northbridge a...

I would add Krabi in Thailand and Bohol in the Philippines to your list of options. Krabi is my favorite place in Thailand and Bohol would fit most of your criteria (although not sure about the visa situation).
