Re: Bokor access during Khmer New Year?
I saw a report on tv this morning that seemed to show MANY big cars on the road to Bokor but I couldn't understand the audio - was there a big crowd on the weekend ? It was packed on Friday, I expect Saturday was worse. We left Kampot around 6:30am, and the road was pretty much empty. Couple of car...

My first time there, so I'm not sure what used to be there. everything on the below map is still standing & 'untouched'. most of the d...

Heading to Takeo tomorrow via this route, then Kampot on Thursday.
If you see a Daelim belly-up in a ditch somewhere along the way, that'll be me.

I hope it'll be quiet enough, I'm riding to Takeo on around dawn on Wednesday morning and then onto Kampot on Thursday.
Planning on taking Highway 2, I assume Highway 3 will be busier..

Re: PlaceXpert - A simple but easy and powerful real estate
With the bugs all ironed out, this looks like it could be a really useful site. The lack of any description, details and photos however makes it completely useless. Perhaps making it mandatory for landlords/sellers to include at least some basic details would be a good idea.

Re: Bokor access during Khmer New Year?
Yeah, they guide query was because I was told barang can't go up without an Khmer 'escort'. I suppose they've got to sell those tours somehow. Yes, the waterfall is dry. I hiked up there in Feb. (I assume there's only one big one, that has a tree growing out of a big old water reservoir?) Thanks again

Re: Bokor access during Khmer New Year?
krisduncs, just out of interest:
Which days will the road be open? Wed-Sun?
Will we need a Khmer guide, or can I just pay the bloke at the gate?
I may be travelling with people who won't want to ride up, is there any other option besides the $20 guided tours? Would a tuk tuk take them up?
Cheers

The 3G here is faster than any other internet I've used in Cambodia. Haven't experienced the fiber here, but I get 200-600KB/s on metfone 3G. I hate the usb stick modems, but there's some good 3G wifi routers on the market (though maybe not available in Phnom Penh). Mine acts as a 4 port+wifi router...

Re: Police in White
I think this was for Jose Ramos-Horta when he was in town last week. I saw a massive cavalcade of these guys surrounding several tinted-windowed sedans heading south down Mao Tse Dong from the Intercontinental that evening, and all the intersections were blocked over to Norodom/Sotheros to let the c...
