Re: Stick your sanctions where the sun don't shine- say PM and army chief
Sanctions are a bloody nuisance when you want to travel to civilised countries or have your children educated properly. They do hurt the elite.

Re: Pre- 1975 and the Cambodian 'Elite'
This is interesting. I think the elite only numbered in the hundreds and most escaped to France before the KR takeover. But what does a Pali derived name mean? I know in Thailand there are names that link people with the royal family. My missus used to live in a timber house on Soi 3 and the rich fa...

Re: Education, defence and health spending to increase in $6bn proposed budget
About 30% more for education than defence-bullshit. Defence used to get far more than education and it still will. is there an opposition to audit a budget, do they get a budget reply speech. I doubt it.

Re: Abandoned buildings and vacant land.
I don't think there was ever a casino. Most villas are Art Deco so that was 20s and 30s? The big colonial one with the billet hokes near the water looks much older, supposed to belong to some royal personage. I was told that hundreds of villas had pools but I don't think that is true. I have been to...

Re: AFL Grand Final
AFL Grand Final less important to me now than ARL Grand Final. Go the Cowboys, the ARL can be fantastic, the Cowboys may be the first team to win after finishing 8th. They seem to have the momentum against the other QLD team-The Storm.

A good lawyer, is this some kind of joke. There are no good lawyers anywhere.

He has been around for at least ten years. We had the same Khmer teacher, my teacher called him a Harvard Lawyer. Is he?

Re: Cost for construction
The house looks pretty good but tiling up all the walls, why would you? Money spent for nothing. I like the fake weatherboard rendering and insulated steel roofs are much more efficient than tiles and don't leak. I too hate the single brick and columns everywhere but it is what they do and is cheap....

This on the weekend where Kem Sokha has been arrested and the Cambodia Daily has been shut down. And CEO bans me??? Jamie shows himself to be a shallow pommie prick. I am a member o...

I assume there are still some Filipino teachers left in the country.
