How is Sihanoukville these days?
Well, that is positive news.
Is that because there is no more land available to build another 30 casinos and other stuff?

I'm concerned the Lions will be relocated, upwards, on the roof of a new Golden Casino.
I highly doubt any further funds sourced from China will be allocated to casinos or any other real estate projects in the foreseeable future.
Fantastic News.
Leave the Lions alone.
My only friends there these days.

Anyone know the current daily cost to rent scooters in Sihanoukville. We'll probably rent 3-4 for a couple of days in early Dec.
Better if Khmer's go to rent them, or expat? Thanks!

It won't be expensive, maybe 5 dolla a day these days, but you may get discount if rent 3 or 4. Please take photo of existing damage to moto before rent\ride.
Have a Great trip 9999.

Thanks for the tip about taking pictures of damage before you rent!
(Although I rented a moto in Siem Reap about 9 years ago when mine was getting repairs, all the other times I rented was long, long ago, before I had a digital camera and before phones had cameras.)

$5 - $10 a day, depending what type of scooter and from where you rent it.Guest9999 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 30, 2023 1:07 pmAnyone know the current daily cost to rent scooters in Sihanoukville. We'll probably rent 3-4 for a couple of days in early Dec.

My in-laws tell me it’s much improved post invasion, at least at some of the beaches. I’ll likely venture out on the next trip.

I dont travel with an insurance policy(that includes moto/vehicle cover) or ever had an international driver's license. I take a risk.
Only once had an issue at a random police "check point". there, 20 dolla fine negotiated down to 10,000 riel. No helmet and no license.
9999, you may consider doing what I dont do.

In the town now. First visit in about 7-8 years
Main market hasn't changed in all the years not even a hint of chink

View a bit different. Lots of unfinished stuff as expected.

Look a bit deeper and still some of the old style snooky hidden away

Weather is crappy. Great? no. Terrible? Been worse places.

Hi Winer Diner,
I expect I'll be mostly with Cambodians, some have car licences, but none of us, as far as I know, have ever taken a moto licence test. (Been thinking for years I should get one for my 250, but haven't got around to it yet.)
Are driver's licences even needed for moto's 125cc and under?

Good question 9999. I automatically thought it was any size cc motor. I maybe wrong.
But hey, when you say you will be mostly with Cambodians, I'm guessing they are friends of yours, Man that's a huge bonus.

Yes, Khmer friends may well be a huge bonus if moto rental places don't ask them about Gov issued motorcycle driver's licences, but would hassle me about it. (However, for small bikes they might not be needed for anyone. Better for me to search other threads for an answer. I know early on, under 125cc bikes didn't require them, but as Cambodia get's more and more regulated, they be might now.)
