What I like has changed over the years. I still like the climate but not as much as I used to, I still like Cambodians - they know how to party and that smile is genuine. The cost of living is a big factor these days as I am basically retired (TBH if I had twice as much then I may have stayed in Spain but then again I would probably be dead now!).Gave up on going out when I stopped doing drugs so nightlife is almost zero as for entertainment has there ever been much? The cycling is a big one for me although that is getting harder with age and never-ending injuries. The women have never been a factor although there ain't many countries with such a stunning population. At the end of the day it is still the easiest and less bureaucratic (corruption helps) place to live.

I love the cheap beer and cigarettes, the range of world class eateries, the carts selling the World Famous fruit shakes@ 2am.
Mostly, for me, it's the Khmer people, easygoing, lovely, so lovely I married one.

I'm older than you, missing a kneecap and cycle regularly, 2 years ago I did 1000km in a month, and for 2 weeks of that I was working full-time.

I like the people and the climate. I hate the cold more than most, I’ve got space warmers and seat heaters all over the home and office.

And I’d hope I like the people being I married one. I like the playful nature of the people, easy to joke with and drink with.

My living expenses are much higher here even though I’m not running a car any more, so definitely not that.
I like being part of a level of change and progress that’s not happening so much back home. Not to be a grumpy old sod but it does feel like my country of origin is marching steadily backwards.

I'm glad someone mentioned this. Cambodia might not reach the standard of living of most Western nations in my lifetime, but it is exciting to be living in a society moving in the right direction, where people have a hope and a future. I have no desire to be stuck in a first-world dystopia devoid of any hope at all.
