A scramble intensified Monday to trace passengers from a US cruise liner allowed to disembark in Cambodia despite at least one traveller later being diagnosed with the deadly coronavirus.
There are fears scores of cruise-goers have been scattered across the world without full health checks - as Cambodia on Monday afternoon treated a few dozen of the passengers to bus tours around the capital Phnom Penh.

NY Times today reporting HE greeted Westerdam passengers sans protective mask: When Cambodia’s prime minister greeted passengers on a cruise ship amid a coronavirus scare on Valentine’s Day, embraces were the order of the day. Protective masks were not.
Not only did Prime Minister Hun Sen not wear one, assured that the ship was virus-free, his bodyguards ordered people who had donned masks to take them off. The next day, the American ambassador to Cambodia, W. Patrick Murphy, who brought his own family to greet the passengers streaming off the ship, also went maskless.
“We are very, very grateful that Cambodia has opened literally its ports and doors to people in need,” Mr. Murphy said. Five other ports had said no.
But after hundreds of passengers had disembarked, one later tested positive for the coronavirus.
Now, health officials worry that what Cambodia opened its doors to was the outbreak, and that the world may pay a price as passengers from the cruse ship Westerdam stream home.
Officials are testing those passengers still on the ship, but health authorities may be hard put to trace all the those who have headed back to their home countries.

Freedom is not a state. It is an act. It is not some enchanted garden perched high on a distant plateau.. Freedom is a continuous action we all must take, and each generation must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society.-John Lewis
A "certain curative effect", oh well. Desperate times, desperate measures. Before an effective cure for tuberculosis was found, some of the most eminent doctors at the time attempted to treat it with anything from mercury to iodine. I cannot help but think that this is a similar situation.Alexandra wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 11:30 pmBEIJING, Feb. 17 (Xinhua) -- Chinese experts, based on the result of clinical trials, have confirmed that Chloroquine Phosphate, an antimalarial drug, has a certain curative effect on the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), a Chinese official said here Monday.
I wonder if the stock markets will take a hit at some stage. I wouldn't bet on tourism or airline stock right now.
A night at Naga, anyone?
A night at Naga, anyone?
OK, that made me laugh.
But I had to google Computer+Virus before I fully understood the comment.
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

That’s not fair. No sooner do they get released from one isolated quarantined, then they’re forced into another.
There’s tons of videos like this coming out currently. It’s heartbreaking to know that they and their families will be killed as a result.
Wuhan has the top virology research lab in China.
That's all I have to say about that

Fuck.
Yes. She's going to disappear at the very least for that

Based on the current estimations, we appear to be on track for scenario four. Obviously more data and containment measures could show that the virus and not that severe, although arguably overwhelmed healthcare systems could easily push the world into Case five.
Case 4 — Pandemic with Moderate CFR
In this scenario the virus is not contained within China — and the CFR is somewhere around 2% maybe a few percentage points higher. Anecdotally this appears to be the current base case assumption among the experts. This would almost certainly have a fairly large economic impact. Hospitals might be overwhelmed, people would be wearing masks on the street. Millions could die in the United States and other developed countries. Look for several countries to be pushed into recession.
