As he polishes his fingernails on the crisp tailored linen of his shirtfront, Falcon Randwick chuckles quietly at the piquant idea of one day looking back over his shoulder to spy, in the far distance behind him, a disordered line-up of the Rangoon expat vanguard all bickering over who'd been here longest...ribblerat wrote:Being of an school type my self,i would say Rangoon or Manilia

Oh, as Ozzie Osborne says "don't ask me I don't know." I'm just a burnt out ex expat who is lucky to have survived the abyss. I know this though. Getting kicked out was the best thing that could have happened to me. If it hadn't happened i would never have left and for sure I would be dead. Maybe not now, but In a year or 2 or 3. Speed kills, as the old song goes. It is vicious poison and it cost me almost everything. Almost but not quite.Moravagine wrote:So Peaceman, now that Phnom Penh is no longer the place for dinosaurs like yourself, where else is there to go? What would be a viable alternative? Just wondering, being a dinosaur myself.
I am happy where I am right now. Time has given me a perspective which I hope is an honest one and I am channelling that artistically I am devoted to my son and his future is all I really care about right now. As I get older I see that it doesnt matter where you are. It only matters who you are.
On our Scottish friend. I didnt know that but somehow I can see him sitting there, knowing the end of the road had come and weighing up his options before calmly making that decision. I am sure it didn't trouble him unduly. That's just how he was. I am proud to call him my friend.

I could say the same thing about Engerland. Funny how stuff works out.If it hadn't happened i would never have left and for sure I would be dead.
I totally agree, but it sometimes takes a long time before we figure that out, simple as it seems..As I get older I see that it doesnt matter where you are. It only matters who you are.
Anyway, keep it up, good to hear from you.

I don't agree at all. Unless you're an enlightened individual, totally detached from your environment, where you are heavily conditions who you are. For me, living 5 years in Cambodia has made me a person I never really wanted to be, but have to be in order to survive here. I'm sure I'm not alone. Even more so, I see many Cambodians who are very much products of their environment. Sorry, but pretty shallow platitude IMO.hanky wrote:I totally agree, but it sometimes takes a long time before we figure that out, simple as it seems..As I get older I see that it doesnt matter where you are. I came, I argued, I'm out
Fucking Bitch landlady kept $1000 dollars deposit money when I was arrested. I might send her abusive text messages.Chuangt2u wrote:
It'd be interesting to see the difference in rental fees now it's been renovated... How much were you paying then? Go on, give em a call.
We had a good rent $350 which for the river was great. She wanted 700 for the place next door which stood empty (of course) for a year. She was the worst landlord I ever had in all the years of renting bar space in Phnom Penh. Horrible witch of a hag.

Me to life's been a breeze, not having much money helps keep me on track.hanky wrote:Sure, but you've had endless problems, It's all been a total breeze for me..For me, living 5 years in Cambodia has made me a person I never really wanted to be, but have to be in order to survive here.
If you were a dick head before coming to Cambodia, it ain't gonna make you better and blaming it on Cambodia is just a way to avoid the truth.

I ran into someone yesterday and said that the rent for one of those apartments was $3000 per month. Does he come from this planet? maybe he's a Khmer or he's in a time warp?maybe he thinks it's the 22 century & not 21st.
