Good stuff Asian Girl hope it will work out. No I am not complaining but critiquing you on your dull creativeness, I am not an artist, for now, let just assume your desire turns into fruition, but did and do you consider of possible scenarios, in a chronological example:
1) having to find her way there (being an underprevildged)
2) sucking one of many official kdors'
3) receiving critics from the international audience on your designed dresses.

Like I said I'm not a professional artist or anything this is just for fun and I don't care if it looks amateurish at least you get the idea. I just drew these just to show that I love my culture and hopefully someday Cambodia will compete and showcase beautiful costumes like these and not use Wat or boun clothes as national costumes lol.chubacca wrote:Chicken Girl = having a conversation with yourself again - your pre-adolescent mind is reflected in the way you draw
Thank you and I hope it will work out to but I'm not an artist either I drew these for fun I just wanted to see how Cambodia national costumes would look like if Cambodia competed.flying chicken wrote:Good stuff Asian Girl hope it will work out. 1.What you mean? Do you mean how will Miss.Cambodia travel to compete abroad? Well the government pays for everything but the organization will provide her a plane ride with all of the other contestants.
2. What does that have to do with anything? You are nasty!!
3. Well I have shown these designs to people who are fans of Miss.Universe and everyone pretty much loves it and said Cambodia will rival Thailand for a best national costume award and I agree!

Too much flesh revealed for the authorities-the navel would have to go.
And yes the khmer girl on stage in the swimsuit-t shirt and shorts?
Wouldnt win too many votes.

It's required to wear swimsuits in Miss.Universe and besides we had a Miss.Cambodia in Miss.World 2006 and Miss.Earth 2005 both wore swimsuits and nothing wrong with that. It has to do with money since its really expensive to compete in Miss.Universe.ken svay wrote:Too much flesh revealed for the authorities-the navel would have to go.

You have all the idealism, utter naivety and misplaced faith in your government that I see so often in Cambodian youth. Bless you.

Asian girl, cool pictures. You should take more time and do a really nice one. As you said, the one is just a sketch. It could be a very nice oil painting.Have you seen Reahu's work? I see some similarities.
As for Khmer ladies entering Miss universe, with local attitudes, how could they judge someone wearing a burka? Nice eyes? I have no doubt, however, that Cambodia could produce a winner, the women are beautiful and talented.

What do you mean by that? Come on Cambodia was so damn close having its first Miss.Cambodia in 2006 and was going to compete in Miss.Universe 2007. I was so happy at that time but soon they canceled it and I was so mad and sad they did that!!!!! The reasons why they canceled it is still a mystery since there is so many excuses about why it was cancelled. I'll just have to pray to Buddha that I just hope someday I and many other Khmer people will finally see a Miss.Cambodia at Miss.Universe rocking that stage with our beautiful Khmer national costumes and possibly win best national costume if they used any of my designs or something cool and creative like that. It would be a proud and historic moment for us Khmer people and Cambodia!andyinasia wrote:You have all the idealism, utter naivety and misplaced faith in your government that I see so often in Cambodian youth. Thnak you But I'm currently working on more and I'll try my best to make it look good but I'm no professional at it. I agree I could see it as an oil painting but too bad I don't know how to oil paint. But who is Reahu's? Can you post some of his or her work? I would love to see them!vladimir wrote:Asian girl, cool pictures. You should take more time and do a really nice one. As you said, the one is just a sketch. There are Khmer girls with professional and a loving attitude and fun personality they just have to crown the right Khmer girl before she competes abroad. Burka? Khmer people don't wear that I think but I feel the same way that Cambodia has many beautiful girls that the world needs to see their talents, beauty and culture! I'm pretty sure the girls from Cambodia would love to walk and wear beautiful Khmer national costumes for the world to see!

Pray to Buddha? I wasn't aware he was in favour of beauty contests.
The poster was teasing you. Do NOT google reahu - like your government, you will be shocked and upset that someone could portray Cambodian women in such beautiful poses.
Your government like to keep the most beautiful girls as their mistresses. They don't approve of the world seeing what they enjoy in private. maybe one day you'll grow up and see what moral hypocrites control you and your country. I hope that day is far away. In Cambodia, ignorance is bliss. And there's a lot of it about.

Cambodia was also damn close to having a Miss Landmine contest, but the Government banned that at the last minute also.Asian Girl wrote: Come on Cambodia was so damn close having its first Miss.Cambodia in 2006 and was going to compete in Miss.Universe 2007. I don't mean Buddha literally it just means I wish my wish will come true someday and no I don't think Buddha would approve but other countries like Thailand still compete when their a Buddhist country.andyinasia wrote:Pray to Buddha? I wasn't aware he was in favour of beauty contests.

Well the way you mentioned about that must either be shocking or scary so I won't bother and go look for it. Is what your saying facts? I have not heard such thing but if that's the case then I understand why there isn't a Miss.Cambodia yet how sad. But I agree that they are trying to hiding the Khmer beauty from the world for their own selfish reasons. When the Miss.Cambodia pageant was announced back then I haven't seen any Khmer people or the Khmer community complain since they were happy about it.
Yes i also have heard about that pageant to and that it was canceled also since they think it mocks landmine victims when in reality they just want to feel beautiful which they are. But I'm pretty sure this type of contest doesn't wear over the top creative costumes since these type of national costumes is what Miss.Universe wants to see and remember every country in Miss.universe wants to also compete for that best national costume award and Cambodian's needs to be in action to.unperson wrote:Cambodia was also damn close to having a Miss Landmine contest, but the Government banned that at the last minute also.Asian Girl wrote: Come on Cambodia was so damn close having its first Miss.Cambodia in 2006 and was going to compete in Miss.Universe 2007. That's why the wives chuck acid in their faces afterwards! (Apologies to any acid attack victims or relatives - I know it's a horrible aspect of life here, but it does happen. Jealousy is a terrible thing. Just ask Iago.)andyinasia wrote:

Asian Girl, I luv picture 18 - the girl with the water jug. A certain indefinable elegance & grace. Cambodian girls are the leaders in grace & poise (apart from Burmese girls, perhaps) in my humble opinion. And the smiles are genuine.
O, let me not be mad, not mad, sweet heaven
