The title of my next installment is "Bangkok Made Me a Monster". Can't remember what I did until I re-read it later, but it doesn't sound like diamond geezer material to me.

FK you Andy, that brought more than a tear to my eye and made me think of the 'nice' but lost cause hookers I've known in SE Asia and wonder how they are getting on.

Damn, why do I only seem to know nasty bitches these days?

Your last story got me teary, and inexplicably got me on impulse calling to srok khmer at 5am just to say the L word to my SO which I rarely rarely throw out. :(

Anyway, I am very observant and pay details to places I visit, but man, you got eyes of binoculars.

You gotta publish this stuff.

Your descriptions are so specific but not so much as to make you lose interest. I've been working all day but have been trying to find a break every couple of hours to read another entry.

Bring on the next lot.

Both countries blogs were great but I found LOS was a little more familiar and captivating.

Good work

Andy your last post was brilliant and your writing reminds me of W.T. Vollmann (especially 'Poor People'), though your voice is unique and interesting.

Well, that was the old me. If I was blogging today, it would go like this:

"July 8th 2011

Today is our 4th wedding anniversary. It's my day off. it's going to be a good day.

9 am - Have a lie in and send the missus to the embassy to get result of visa application to visit family in UK.
10 am - missus returns devastated - application refused. Engage emergency sex until she's smiling again.

11 am - throw 4 year old niece in the air for 5 minutes until everyone agrees I'm the best uncle in the world. Done with kid for the day - hand over to women.

11.30 - authorise funding so that father-in-law can be rushed to hospital now his prostate cancer is flaring up again. Send missus to visit him and then crazy suicidal sister-in-law once removed in other hospital. Oh, I'm left with the kid. Play football computer game while genius 4 year old plays the Sims.

1 pm - wife takes kid to park - uninterrupted stint on computer game.

Afternoon - tear myself away from computer game and do some quality time with wife (maybe supervise her doing the laundry or something).

Evening - try to squeeze in romantic dinner. Leave kid with young sister who'll have to skip uni tonight.

Post-anniv meal - RobW's in town - send wife home and cruise hostess bars with mate (might have to forego that one tonight; tomorrow is my birthday which is always brill 'cos all my young sisters turn up to give me a great day then leave me free in the evening - yeh!)"

It's really not the same, is it?
Happy birthday, mate.

Andy, your writing style is peerless; I put my head down last night with great anticipation of your next installment, i.e. like reading a novel that wont let you put it down. It would be poignant if you decided not to go down memory lane today, with your next piece , given its title. Happy birthday man.

Shall I just post the Thai pieces? India's all filed away here if there are any requests.

I will put up the next installment but I must confess after re-reading it to be excruciatingly embarrassed. It's the one that infuriated the middle-aged women cohorts and I know I can see why. It's not so much WHAT I did (make love to a wonderful older woman, nip out to get us a pizza and an hour later upset a stunning dancer from Angel Witch who had the experience to sense that I'd had sex an hour previously) and my attitude - I veer nauseatingly into khmeria/skywalker territory. I'm not editing anything; I can only apologise in advance.

“Tonight when smelly fat falang hurting my ass I close my eyes and I see you and I happy. In four month, six month when I die I close my eyes and I see you and I happy. Thank you Andy.”
Is this the poetic license part?
