Looks like my $4 room at Chi Cha gh. Well, the post is written in a fairly optimistic tone. I wonder how long that attitude, if the blog lasts at all, will last.

Yeah lol. The guy's English is pretty good too. Given how khmers are, I've always thought that their prisons must not be so bad. I know it sounds funny, but I've imagined myself in a khmer prison before, wondering how it might be and how I'd fare. Perhaps I'm wrong, but this small snippet seems to confirm my suspicions. Besides not having much space, the people are somehwat friendly and I don;t think you'd get ass raped too often either. Your cellmates will enjoy having a barang around and find it to be a nice distraction. Not to mention if you can bring in goodies through brides, they'll like you even more. Go to a US jail and you might get more food, but the rest of the "prison package" would probably make the overall experience much worst. My innocent self suspects that among third-world countries, Cambodian prisons must be among the "best". I just don't see khmer prison guards beating up a barang for some reason. i see him smiling and wanting to chit-chat with you. Now I imagine a Russian prison guard and the whole scene changes drastically for the worst...

I visited a brother of a friend in a provincial prison a few years back. He, along with the other prisoners were literally chained to the wall, just like in a medieval dungeon - or, more recently and closer to home, S21.
