Life in 1 square-meter
I agree with Biteeinbit on this.
I too would, if forced to choose, would prefer life in a Cambodian prison. At least there I would be big and tall enough to make an impression as being some tough white bong-thom and could be left alone to see out my sentence in quiet misery.
Anyone who doubts how bad US prisons are should watch Miami Mega Jail with Louie Theroux: http://eztv.it/ep/27733/bbc-miami-mega- ... 3-mvgroup/...this Miami jail is the mouth of hell. No matter what you've seen on The Wire or heard about American prisons – how they've been condemned by Amnesty and Human Rights Watch, how Arizona, with its 100-plus degree temperatures, keeps it prisoners in tents to save money – this cannot fail to shock you.
After watching this it would seem that misery in an American prison is guaranteed.

What does the 2.3 million figure represent? It cannot be the current number of inmates!

I think that's the US figure. It's impossible for Cambodia to have that many inmates and last I heard the US had around that number. But I'm not sure what he means by "buggered". Does that mean killed, raped or shived?
Of course I am, what kind of a stupid question is that? But from what I gather you don't need to be pretty for it to happen. And misery in almost any prison is guaranteed. Except maybe for those minimum security white-collar crime prisons. Those are more like daycares. The logic which unperson uses is the same as mine: I'm roughly twice the size of the average khmer and can speak the language fluently enough that I think I could fend for myself. I also don't make enemies easily and being a barang, I'd probably be more of a weird novelty than anything else. I figure they leave you alone. Or maybe not, who knows.jm wrote:So you're a pretty boy? Estimates of the number of inmates who have been buggered range from 43,000 to 140,000 out of a prison population of 2.3 million. The re-enactments of South American prisons on Locked Up Abroad look pretty horrific.
I would love to see Prey Sar at some point. Maybe ken svay should run tours there or something. I would certainly pay $5-$10 to have a look around. Is Dr. Beardface still in there?

Well to each his own. I guess you'd prefer a weekly shit packing session just to have your own bed with some warm blankets. I'll take the humidity, urine and feces instead. And given all the NGO's around, I'm pretty sure the conditions have not worsened significantly in 15 years. I've visited Afghan prisons and though they were no picnic, the somewhat constant international presence definitely made them 1000% better than they used to be.jm wrote:Seems to me you're a bit obsessed with this rape business. Sleeping right on top of diseased and dying, their urine and feces in a brutally hot cell with no certainty of decent food or water, that doesn't bother you? Maybe it's just me. Ask Ken Svay how his dead friend enjoyed his stay.

Having spent a few days in various prisons around the world, ( Bahamas, Us, Sudan, Nepal, India)
i would say I would choose Asia IF and only IF, u have someone on the outside willing to visit u and help out.
With out that ur fucked. I was lucky and always had contacts on the outside.
If u have not been locked up inside, u have no idea the freedom u really have and even being able to freely kick a stone is something .
I am amazed that he has a phone in there and is able to use it without someone turning him in to the guards. I assure u it wont last long

Doesn't change my point of view the slightest. I'll take tea ceremonies and sweaty men vs a Russian gangster cutting my Achilles tendon over spilt borscht or 5 Mexican-American LaEme members giving me a beating any day. As for overcrowding, that's not unique to Cambodia, it's pretty much every incarceration system in the world (though admittedly overcrowding in the west is not overcrowding in developing countries).
It looks like a real sausage-fest in there-Falcon Randwick stylie

Twitter: Not my circus, not my monkeys - I sold #K440
Weird, when I got placed in a cell for overnight for DUI for riding my Shimano bike, I got stripped from top to bottom and every part of my finger palms were scanned even my shoes laces were taken away for suicide prevention. And if I ever manage to snuggle any valuable item I am sure it would not sit safe with my inmate.
Which lead me to questions: if he has device to an internet connection why not make the best use of it instead of writing blogs. 2nd, prison guards and inmate would surely notice, and confiscate or try to steal it.

A blog by a British prisoner in a New York jail. No anal rape reports as yet.

Someone please take the time to download and save the entire blog + photos, as there is a possibility it could disappear. This is priceless stuff. Other than the "save as" choice from my browser I wouldn't know how to do it proper.Phuket2006 wrote:
