Murder at money exchange
http://kohsantepheapdaily.com.kh/article/24015.html
Translation someone. I believe this relates to a video a FB friend of mine has showing the incident (they uploaded direct to FB so I can't get a copy of it here... unless their FB page is open to all... check it out)
https://www.facebook.com/video/video.ph ... 6896728512
Apparently the person running, is the son. Leaving the mother to be killed. Can't blame him too much. personal survival instincts strong

Does your friend always film random spots, hoping for something to happen?
Weird to see the one guy being bashed up (with a gun?), while a man not 2 meters away from him is putting his bike back on the stand as if nothing's going on...

is a friend of a friend who uploaded the video. I was thinking it might be security footage.
the person being bashed is a woman, and she actually gets shot by the guy on the motorbike (shot dead).
Vlad... let's hope so... might be a good start if the police actually had a copy of it. That's why I wanted a translation of the news... I think they are offering a SMALL reward (v. small). for information.

It was in yesterday's Daily. It said the woman was a money-changer from a market, they had gone to Chaom Chao market to change $30,000 into Riel. The gunment robbed one bag of money from the son, who ran off unharmed. They failed to find a second bag of money that was concealed in the glove compartment of the motorbike.
From the video, it looks like the woman runs out and grabs the bag back off the gunmen, one of whom starts pistol-whipping her. Then an accomplice comes up, and shoots her, then they take the bag and drive off. The victim died on the way to Calmette from a gunshot wound to the chest. Quite brutal really, especially the way the guy casually walks up and shoots her. He appears to have had some practice, perhaps ex-military or something.

Who Gives a Fuck?
A woman who worked as a money changer, was seriously injured and later died while being transported to Calmette Hospital, after being shot by three robbers armed with handguns who robbed her of a cartonful of money totalling more than 100 million riel, the equivalent of 30,000 US dollars.
This tragedy occurred while the victim was returning on her moto with her son from a money exchange in the vicinity of the Olympic Market, Chamcarmon District, to her home in the vicinity of the Chaom Chao roundabout.
The event arose at 10:20 in the morning of the 28th of August on the stretch of the Russian Boulevard in front of the Phnom Penh International Airport where roadside shacks are set up selling second hand clothes, in Prey Teah Village, Chaom Chao Quarter, Donkao District.
The victim, identified as Chuon Dara, 48 year of age, who earned her living as a money changer at the Chaomchao roundabout, was shot at three times, one of the bullets hitting her in the left area of her chest and exiting out from behind. As for her son, Pon Lattee, aged 21, he was not injured. Both lived near the Chaomchao roundabout where the roads intersect.
As for the robbers, they numbered three in all, wore civilian clothes, were armed with two handguns and rode two Honda 125cc motos. After the violent commission of their robbery, they escaped unscathed.
According to an unnamed source, the victim and her son were riding a black Airblade moto with the Phnom Penh licence plate 1AX-2125, tranporting 30,000 US dollars for the purpose of exchanging it into 100 million riel at a money exchange house in the vicinity of the Olympic Market in Chamcarmon District. After completing the transaction, the victim and her son were returning home on their moto with the money concealed in an empty beer case carton that the mother was holding from behind, having placed it between them on the moto. Arriving at the scene of the crime, suddenly they were approached from behind by the three suspects who manoevered their motos into the victim’s moto, forcing it to stop. Next they pulled out a gun and threatened the victim into handing over the carton. The same source states that the woman refused to give it up, a struggle then ensued to take the money by force, but the victim steadfastly clung to her carton of money. At which point a gun was fired three times at the victim, one of the bullets hitting her in the chest, causing her to collapse in a pool of blood. The suspects then seized the money and rode off without a trace, no bystander intervening while the drama unfolded. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene and her kin summoned an ambulance to transport her body to her house, which was more than a kilometer distant from where the body lay. But on arriving at the victim’s house and with the body still in the ambulance, the body suddenly began to display signs of respiration. She was then rushed by ambulance to Calmette Hospital but, unfortunately, died enroute.
The authorities state that the the robbers had cased her out well beforehand and were cognisant of her money changing trips to the Olympic Market. On this fateful day, the gang of robbers had followed her closely on their motos for the express purpose of robbing her.
At the scene of the shooting police investigators found one bullet shell, as well as two unexploded bullets, bearing the imprint “Lok.” Police were not able to say what make of gun was used in the commission of the crime on account of the variety of weapons that are able to utilize this type of bullet. As an aside, the gang of robbers must have been an audacious and daring bunch. They executed their daring robbery in broad daylight, on a street teeming with second hand clothe shoppers, haphazardly parked motodops and cars streaming back and forth.

i read this in the cambodia Daily the other day. The ammount of money stolen was said to be $30,000USD! Makes one wonder why a money exchanger would have so much to deposit in one haul. $30,000 is a shitload of money no matter where one is.

Yes, thanks for that translation. Appreciated.
I had wondered if the money changer had tipped the robbers/killers off. Slightly more comforting to know that wasn't the case.
$30,000. I always felt money changers had wads of cash, but never dreamed it might be in this league. Quite incredible.
No surprise that the robbers "executed their daring robbery in broad daylight, on a street teeming with second hand clothe shoppers"
The Cambodians commenting on the FB postings of the video are outraged at the lack of bystander involvement(either during or after she was shot). They cannot comprehend that noone helped the woman. Also, they are particularly up in arms about the lack of "security" involvement. I guess it is reassuring that there is a generation out there who speak of their distaste at the lack of morals, social injustice and plain self-centredness of the society they are growing up in.
It was a very brazen act by all three men, the shooter especially.

I know this is a really strange question to ask, but where were the police?
A few minutes after 10am, surely too early for lunch, even in Phnom Penh?
'I had wondered if the money changer had tipped the robbers/killers off. Slightly more comforting to know that wasn't the case.'
How do you KNOW this?
'The Cambodians commenting on the FB postings of the video are outraged at the lack of bystander involvement(either during or after she was shot).'
Not just the Cambodians.
I think many people were stunned, but this is the land of selfishness, which breeds cowardice. If a barang had got onto a fight with a motodop (as happened very recently in Thailand), they would have been swarming.
There is plenty more where this shit came from: high unemployment, even amongst people with degrees, ineffective policing, easy access to guns, and a culture of no contacts, no job. Trust me, it's going to get WAY worse. These bastard motherfuckers got away with it in broad daylight. That alone sends a big signal to any desperate enough to consider it that it can be done, and crime can pay. It's only a matter of time before they start trying it.
I said the same thing back home years ago, and people laughed at me. They aren't laughing now.

Why did not they, at least her son check her pulse before pronouncing she is dead! An immediate trip to a hospital could of save her. Unbelievable!
If you are a believer in an angry ghost/spirit, this is certainly one of them.

If you witnessed a group of gang with guns riding their bikes robbing at point blank I am certain you will like others.vladimir wrote:
