Phnom Penh Coffee Shops Review
Heres's a rather wonderful new front page piece from jm suggesting where we can find a great cup of coffee in town.

Great article. I'll admit I am more likely to go to overpriced but comfy and cosy places like Cafe Sentimental or True Coffee, but this article really made me want to try out some of these other places.

Great review, JM. While I'm in PP next week, I will try and visit some of those shops.
Question: which of your fave cafes with good espresso also offer outdoor tables and chairs? I don't care about wi-fi.
Another cafe tip: One place that has good outdoor seating and people watching is at the corner of Sts. 51 and 172. I had trouble figuring out its name because it seems to have so many strewn around the premises, inside and out. It's called Au Bon Cafe, I think, and it's across 51 from the Shanghai. They make a very good Americano and espresso there and staff are terrific.

I've been to Bambus few times. Good service and excellent cheese omelette, though, as jm said, a bit on the pricy side.

On street 236 there is a place Cafe Mai excellent Cafe Vietnam with or without the condensed milk. Actually on that street there are a few good places. 1500 to 2000 Reil per cup. cafe Mai also does a sweet tea with lime that is to die for. Good Pho right around the corner. Seng Veng is the name of the coffee place across from Ouressy (sp?). They also have a shop across the road from the bus station at Central Market. Their Dalat from Vietnam is a real treat but the Lao robusta is a close second for about half the price as the Dalat.

Interesting thread.
Can anyone recommend a cafe that makes a decent flat white made with real milk and not that disgusting UHT stuff? Since being in Phnom Penh I've been drinking cappuccinos because that disguises the UHT milk a bit and the lack of skill in the maker.

Just went to SPINELLI and ask for a fresh brewed coffee. I'm surprised they did it fresh, with fresh grind coffee bean right infront of me. I heard the staff was sent to Singapore for training and they seems to know what they're doing. Go try it, ask for fresh brewed coffee.
