Stammtisch Tonight 8 PM FCCC
This is some German word...but what it means is an informal meeting on the rooftop at FCCC for freelance consultants and others at 8 PM just to get to know whose around and doing what, opening up possibilities for work, or, as the Gov says, "having a work-related excuse to provide the wife while going out to swill beer". Hope to see some of you there.
What the fuck is this board coming to?
FCC???????????
Fah Fah Fah expensive wine and yak yak yak consultants???
Why not put a little poster up in Java Cafe?
I guess that you'll be ending the evening by tossing a wad of 100 riel notes from the balcony so you can watch the peasants grovelling around in the dirt below.

Fair comment re; the FCC...temporary solution. Hadn't thought of the 100 riel notes, not a bad idea! You are welcome to come - or not. Free country (for the most part).Paul_Pot wrote:What the fuck is this board coming to?

I for one will be to busy this evening with my part time hobby of drowning puppies, tied up in cloth sacks, weighed down with bricks, from the banks of the Tonle Sap.
After which I shall go and celebrate with several beers in the recently relocated Peace Café
<hic>
Honestly, the FCC, huh !

FCCC owners, if you're reading 440(don't pretend you don't), for the price of half dozen of your pizza's a month, this tirade of abuse could be replaced by flowery adjectives describing your menu and rich compliments regarding your superb interior design practices.
Advertise 440; it really works!*

This proves my recently assessed theory that for reasons unknown, all posts inviting members to have a drink receive flames, death threats, insults of a personal nature and just general crap indeed. I fart in your general direction.
But I do have to agree that the FCC is waaaay overpriced, and they would get my business on a regular basis (and I am sure more business in general) if they didn't charge so freaking much!
Oh well, they are geared for the visitor, one whom thinks the place is cheap by western standards, and that explains why they are only busy on the weekends IMO.

Why not simply say, "Hey, thanks for the invite, that would be cool, but I am busy..."
Or, you could say: "I have to cultivate developmentally appropriate styles, innovate collaborative higher-order thinking, expedite classroom-based business partnerships, deploy critical staff development, orchestrate competency-based dialogue, unleash standards-based cohorts to shave my pubic region."
Thanks to PB for the jargon generator....
Kidding guys! Kidding!!!!

I would certainly agree that FCC is staggeringly overpriced. I went there once on my recent trip, only because I like the view. Well, the view is nice, that's for sure, but not on a regular basis at those prices. Instead, during my two weeks, I ate meals and spent hours drinking mango juice, coffee, and other refreshments at every place along the riverside and elsewhere in town EXCEPT the FCC. Too bad for them as they could have picked up a substantial chunk of that money had their prices been reasonable.
For the reasons mentioned, I also did not bother trying to meet anyone from this board. I'm not sure why so many people here are on the muscle all the time, but there it is. No doubt this post will generate a spew of vitriol as well. So be it.

Bugger me. I have a laptop, am white (the swarthiness is on the wane due the inclement weather) and wear a rather smart short sleeved shirt on occasion. What a pity?
However, I don't much like the FCC. Overpriced and over here is one epithet that comes to mind. Hopeless service to boot.
Justyn, a pity I feel. I think vitriol is often used to spice up posts for the sake of it. Some of the regulars who I have met are actually quite pleasant souls.
Cheers,
Vox

After clear consensus and a practical demonstration last night of the marvelous service/prices at the FCCC, we've more or less decided to switch it to the Peace Pub on the first Tuesday of every month. So get your white short-sleeved shirts ironed and laptops polished and we'll invade David's next time, making sure to boast loudly about our high monthly rates and voluminous reports just to give the bystanders something to moan about...Vox Clamantis wrote:Bugger me.
