Cambodia does have reasonably sized military, although a little top heavy with over 2000 generals.
I see notables especially from the red cross on the khmer news channels constantly giving away food and then spending hours making speeches.
I saw one yesterday where HE name was mentioned every few seconds.
I hate the politicisation of the flood relief.
Its good to see the tents around town selling government rice at the right price.
A little help in a flooded province

The government said they had $100 million put by for this, and said they were putting in $55 mil or so and didn't need donations, and they were all on holiday anyway. Since then quite a few countries donated, and a few days ago it was announced that China is "giving"another $500 million to sort out this disaster and get some irrigation systems fixed etc. I'd hazard a guess that not quite that much will end up being spent on this actual problem...

I already anticipated this ever since I read on the news on foreign donations. The people I know in 2 provinces non so far received help, I am not talking about help to repair damages on their properties but a mere basic necessity i.e. food! Basically like the one in Sunsan's illustrative photos. Now my planned trip to Cambodia is kinda screw.
Let's say half of the 14millions are affected and financially unable, the money should be enough to alleviate the affected ones and even better a small fraction from the CPP's Swiss account. Fucking bastard!

Everyone bow down and pay extreme homage to his Majesty flying chicken.
It is true that many have received no help whatsoever and SunSan has clearly demonstrated what just a handful of people can achieve.
If you want to help, and know it is going DIRECTLY to those in need, find a grassroots organisation
or at least someone in the NGO sector that you trust.
There is massive need for help in Cambodia, and sadly we can't rely on the big name Aid agencies to service everyone.
Good on you SunSan for going that extra step to help out. There need to be more like you out there.

They don't need Swiss accounts, they have their own banks, and it doesn't look like they'll be going anywhere else anytime soon..flying chicken wrote: the CPP's Swiss account
