Another Day Another Eviction
Another day another eviction. However in this instance there was an element of fightback and it was most satisfying to see some cops getting a pounding while doing the thieves' dirty work.

My translator was a bit slow on that so you beat me to it.
I remember this being discussed at the time, I think the excuse was that the new buildings were costing them too much and they'd be out of pocket if they did what they actually agreed to do in the first place....In April 2010, Phanimex unilaterally reneged on the agreement, however - with the approval of the government - and only constructed eight buildings.

http://www.phnompenhpost.com/index.php/ ... ities.htmlMore than 10 local officials and security guards from a local developer who tried to dismantle 27 houses in Phnom Penh’s Borei Keila community in Prampi Makara district yesterday were prevented by about 50 residents, some of whom wielded bricks and crowbars.
Came back heavier-handed if so.

Tim Malay, President of CYN wrote:"There was a legally-binding contract that obligated Phanimex to build 10 buildings. They only built eight buildings. Instead of being forced to abide by the terms of the contract, they are allowed not only to destroy people's homes, but to do it with the assistance of government officials. This is so bad."

Re the first photo.
Hardly a graze.
My 3yo daughter had more blood streaming out of her head the other day when she collided with the edge of a table.
There's always something quite gratifying seeing police getting pounded by bricks, whatever the incident.

There will never be greatness attached to walking on your own people.
I'm sure she will be rewarded appropriately at some point...
Hiding behind the police - the least respected element of the society - how fucking pathetic.

I think you'll find that most if not all of these landgrabbers are full-blooded ethnic Chinese hiding behind Khmer names. Consequently, Khmers are not their own people.Nasty Canasta wrote:There will never be greatness attached to walking on your own people.

If that is the case, how is it that they get a rubber stamp?
Cheers,
