Accident
I've had accidents twice and I've always had the perps repair the damage at places of their choice under supervision. Both sides have always come away satisfied.

I have to agree with this, great and fair attitude.Devo wrote:Exactly the guy did the right thing, best to 'give back' some kindness to him.cambod wrote:Yeah, good attitude! He should also get an award for stopping in the first place!Khmerized wrote:I doubt it. Confiscating the truck would have been a big blow for him. It's apparently the only one he owns, and I could feel the panic when the cops started talking about keeping it.
I'd rather have him keep the truck and work to get me my 500 than bankrupting him and getting nothing.
Those who propose otherwise are as bad as the shit kicker locals who mistake kindness or friendliness for weakness.
Also man you were lucky!
and if you are not a native English speaker you would not know it reading your more detailed post.
Note to self: Must be nice to morons.
Agree...khmerzied English and posts are top quality...espically considering he was in a major crash!
Sorry to read you were in one! Hope you are alight... reckon you are
Can picture the scene...debris from the crash,gaggle of onlookers, old lady with beetle nut stained teeth, barang centre of attention under straw-roof-rest-stop,
Everyone worried for the well-being and safety of the crash victim.
You on your iPhone posting the Original Post!! "Mouy Plate, Mouy Plate...posting on k440....Mouy Plate!"
Crickey...you should get your internet addiction seen too. Nice weekend away from the city and computers, but crash bang wallop...back on khmer440 minutes after a major road accident!!
Anyhows, hope you and your bike are o.k.

Then I remember having an extremely interesting view of the underside of the truck. He thankfully stopped, but I can still picture the wheel rolling towars my head. I then pushed myself out of under the truck and to the side of the road. I laid down in the dirt, and then some people came to me. One old lady tried to get my helmet off but I said "ate! ate!". They stood me up against my will and then I lost my sight. It was absolutely pitch black. That's when I got really scared. I felt like puking, not sure if I did, they carried me to one of those huts where I laid down. I then fainted.
When I woke up, I had my sight back. The old lady was massaging my back and it hurt like hell. I said "chop chop" and then asked for water. She refused. So I stayed under the straw roof and started to realize what happened. I removed my helmet and checked my skull - everything seemed clear.
.....The old woman then came with water, but told me to not drink too much. Fair enough. One guy came to me and started speaking in English, thank god. He helped me up, showed me where my bike was and gave me my bags.....
I then called my girlfriend, who was in a bus behind me, and told her to get off at the town. That's also when I wrote my post.

1st off, I am glad ur ok, any accident u walk away from is a good one. Have had a few.
2nd;
From this it was ur fault, You were overtaking him and he turned and u hit him. You one lucky guy that he Paid you.
3rd, why the fuck after an accident the first thing u think to do is post on here??
2nd;
I was still a few seconds away from him when I opened the throttle and began moving into the opposite lane to overtake him. I got closer and closer, when he really suddenly steered left. Sure enough, he was in my lane, at a 90 degree angle. I probably crashed into him 2 and half seconds later

"We are turning into a nation of whimpering slaves to Fear—fear of war, fear of poverty, fear of random terrorism, or suddenly getting locked up in a military detention camp on vague charges of being a Terrorist sympathizer." HST
I would never have guessed it either.LaudJohn wrote:...

I think it may depend on whether he was passing the truck in an intersection.

Yes very lucky... lucky you didn't run over a child. The locals wouldn't have been so friendly.

It's good that no one was maimed or seriously injured, however you are fully responsible for this accident simply because you have left all commonsense behind you are are now driving like the people you complain about.
It's not about driving fast, it all about driving safely.
I too am glad that you did not injure another person because of your stupidity.
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

WTF, I think that's nearly as tightwad as you can get isn't it?The old woman then came with water, but told me to not drink too much
No wonder Cambodia is a paradise of abundance, with neatly tended public spaces, clean streets, and a general air of cooperative, mutually supportive progress.
Good on the truck owner though, I agree he should get some recognition for the trouble, and not stand as another example of why it's best to just flee the scene.

I wonder if he'll feel the same way if he ends up having to fork out cash.OnCore wrote:Good on the truck owner though, I agree he should get some recognition for the trouble, and not stand as another example of why it's best to just flee the scene.
