Finally here....arrived last night.
Finally here....arrived last night.
Well we have finally made the move here. We are staying at the Himawari Hotel for about 10 days until we move into our house.
First impressions.......I already like this place alot. Coming from the Philippines and being there 4 years this place certaintly seems ALOT cleaner. Airport definately was WAAAYY nicer than the airport in Manila. Expediter who met us got us thru customs in about 2 minutes and had a nice big Expedition waiting with the A/C already blasting to take us to the Hotel.
I think we are going to like this place alot. Well off to find the Mall and a good burger.

You need an 'expediter' to walk through customs? How much does he get paid for that??
I came, I argued, I'm out
Really? Granted I have never been to Manila, but I have always assumed that PP was the dirtiest capital city in SE Asia. It's hard to imagine Manila being a lot dirtier.2YEARTOUR wrote:

You probably will have already realized by the time you read this but... there is only one true mall and that's the Sorya mall. Burger wise, check out this thread if you haven't already.

Anyway, welcome to Cambodia.

This! I'm pretty sure it took me two minutes to go through customs on my arrival here, no expediter needed. It sounds like he's just a taxi driver in an SUV who came to greet the OP at the airport.andyinasia wrote:You need an 'expediter' to walk through customs? How much does he get paid for that??
"This is my happening and it freaks me out!"
Ok, well, let's say that the Sorya is the closest thing to a true mall.jm wrote: Is Sorya a truer mall than Sovanna? True malls have Gap Kids. No true malls in Cambodia quite yet.
No, wait, let me change that, let's say that the Sorya is to malls what the Pizza Company is to pizzas (and funnily enough, there is a Pizza Company inside the Sorya mall). Deal?

Welcome!
Jakarta is dirtier than pp. It's a much more pleasant experience landing here.
Besides, he's been expressed delivered through customs straight to a beautiful hotel on the beautiful riverside. They have only seen the best of the best at a very expedited, airconned, touristy kind of way!

We work for the U.S. Embassy. There was an issue with the Diplomatic passports and Visas so they sent someone to handle whatever it was that was wrong. No charge.

I must agree. Manila is WAAAAAYYYY dirtier than here. Granted I haven't been all around and been far but between the airport, City Mall, and my hotel it was extreemely clean compared to the Philippines.

You've seen the smelly canals in Phnom Penh. Here's the Manila version:
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Holy crap, I stand fully corrected.
