Kantha Bopha In trouble!
Kantha Bopha In trouble!
This is not good news at all, Maybe members here can help spread the word. Maybe a bill Gates or a Ginia Ginehart might hear about the need if it is publicized.

The word around here amongst locals is that there are several hospitals in danger of losing funding.
I have a feeling this is just the beginning of the exodus from Cambodia of donor money to other places.
Is Cambodia ready to stand on her own two feet?
Will she ever be ready?

Some men you just can't reach. So you get what we had here last week, which is the way he wants it... well, he gets it. I don't like it any more than you men.

While Kantha Bopha has provided excellent medical care to its small number of patients, the WHOLE POINT of the long and extended argument between Dr. Richner and the rest of the development aid medical establishment is that Cambodia CANNOT AFFORD to have medical facilities of this quality and cost given the budget and staff available and the money would be better spent on lower level facilities offering more basic and preventive health care to rural areas. I may be simplifying this a bit too much, but I believe that is what it boils down to.Dad wrote:This is not good news at all, Maybe members here can help spread the word. So, looks like they were right, eh Beat? Will we be seeing a "mea culpa" advert in the Daily any time soon? Fat chance.

You may well be right MM. Would you knowingly donate money to the government here, I mean the hospitals here.
Good. Give Cambodia a chance to do something themselves.MoodyMac wrote:...

We'll never find out unless we take the crutches away, they won't be given up voluntarily. Is Cambodia ready to stand on her own two feet?
Will she ever be ready?
Its going to be interesting to say the least.

there is something that bothers me about the timing of this letter to the editor...
Call me a conspiracy nut if you must- but still...
Call me a conspiracy nut if you must- but still...
Why is he writing to the PPP, a mostly foreign audience, asking for funds, when he himself isn't able/willing to donate because he "lives abroad"?
He's been having trouble collecting funds in Switzerland for a couple of years already. Must be some bad vibes around.
maybe he wrote to also, for example to the ny times etc also: just now that kantha bopha tells the world about all those dead kids...hmmm is there any other proof that the kids died- undoubtedly a lot of kids die every day- here, who would not have died in the western world- we all know that, but what proof other than his word is there that it is the same disease that kills them????

It's the first I've heard of any financial crisis at the hospitals. There don't seem to be any news reports on it either.I was sad to learn there is apparently no public sympathy for the financial crisis the Kantha Bopha Hospital is facing.
Several reports in local and international media have highlighted that the hospital urgently needs help if it is to survive. Indeed, this is an extremely urgent issue for us all.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
