tourist visa to Australia
My lady actually submitted a visa application last week for a tourist visa to go to Australia. They say it will take 4 weeks to decide the outcome.
What is the fastest time that anyone has been notified of their decision weather or not it was a yes /no decision???

Around a week in December just gone.

It took me ten days the first time.
Three months is the maximum allowed for a toursit visa.East west used to charge $500 and usually got a result. The golden rule is dont tell lies.

And you need to provide solid proof of your relationship with her. Filling in the application form correctly could be the first issue... you really must get her to email you a scanned copy and check every answer before she lodges it.
If you're doing it right, she would submit an inch thick pile of documents, half of them relating to you.

I had a family members Tourist visa denied on the first attempt. Read carefully the reasons that they denied the visa and address these issues in detail. Give all the reason you can think of that what they are suggesting may occur wont. Give the Embassy a call and talk to the case manager he wont give you any help or any information on how to help with the visa but he then knows that you care and there is a genuine interest. I reapplied two days latter after kicking up a fuss and the second application was granted and expedited.
East West can only provide the embassy the information that you give them (so you still do all the work) but they will ask you more questions than the form to present a more complete package.

I dont think that an aussie visa compares with rocket science. If you are honest it is easy, says he who is soon to apply for one.
Does a four year relationship carry any weight?

But honesty only won't get anyone a visa, but it's fundamental.

But which one are you talking about coz you've had so many of them and also managed to have 2 or more going at the same time !
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

Yes lying to the immigration department is one thing but when you lie to yourself and believe it you are in real trouble.scoffer wrote:ken svay wrote:I dont think that an aussie visa compares with rocket science. If you are honest it is easy, says he who is soon to apply for one.

PS to the original poster my first tr visa was approved in 3 days but that was a long time ago things have changed and they now stick to the one month timeline nearly to the day.

Reality is, the documentation required is not all that different from when she applies for permanent residence.
The invitor has to submit documents relating to his assets and bank statements, and may also be asked for his tax returns (if she wants a multi-entry visa after the first one). Applicant and invitor will be asked how and where they met, and who introduced them.
She will also be asked to do a lung Xray, if they believe she may come in any medical facility (not as patient).
Newbies might like a complete checklist, as what is on the embassy's website is by no means complete.

Un less things have changed The xray is not required for a 3 month tourist visa but is required for a 6 month one, also for fiancee and spouse (the later two require a full medical which is checked in OZ I believe).
In reality they do not issue many 6 month visas, especially the first time, without a good cause, they prefer to issue 3 month visas.
Note to self: Must be nice to morons.

Things must have changed. My GF was asked to do a lung Xray for a 3-month visitor visa (second visit). All good but costed $30 for the service. It appears to me that it was on the basis of a misunderstanding that she might be visiting someone in hospital.
Cambodia's AU Embassy website does mention the possibility.
