I don't think a dentist will be very helpful with this ?ken svay wrote:Yeah, well I nearly went yesterday to see what I could do and having just left the dentist today I was going to call gavin scott or another doctor I know but now I will just mind my own business.I only ever get shit when I try to help, believe it or not I am one of the most genuine peopke here.Good luck with it all.

'i nearly went' 'i was going to' actions speak louder than words. and now, in a sulk at a poster other than the OP who was requesting the help, you withdraw your 'almost' help like a bloody child. Sometimes, 'ken svay' you really take the biscuit.

This is by far the cheapest quote I've ever seen at only 400$ for the basic coverage! Would like to know if these guys can be trusted...jm wrote:Thanks Andy.andyinasia wrote:No secret - you didn't ask (well maybe you did - I just glanced). I have had PMs already, so let me copy & paste my reply:
At work now so can't spend much time online!I've not yet made a claim, and I don't personally know anyone who has, so I can't give a personal assurance. Furthermore, our policy is based on the maximum excess of $1300 as my intention is it is just for these kinds of emergencies. So it has emergency evac and Royal Rattanak as the local go-to hospital, but I cut out other frills.
I got the link from a post on K440, so you might find something doing a search. The company is called 'A+' and I have the option called 'Essential Plus' and Zone C coverage. That means evac is to a limited range of nations in SE Asia. It doesn't include Singapore, but does include Thailand and Vietnam. The go-to middle guy is an Aussie based in HCMC who visits Cambodia every couple of months. I can give you his contact after you've scrutinised the website and decided if you want to take it further. FWIW the coverage for me is $500, and my younger wife $300 pa.

I truly hope she gets better and I don't think that Callmett is the worst decision you could make either. I have had some personal experience with the Rattanak hospital with several people as patients so I have seen a wide variety of issues. Looks can be deceiving. The hospital looks the part and the customer service is good, but the doctors are not always their they have some that rotate out of other hospitals and some of the doctors are just plain bad and wrong in their diagnosis. I mean to a point where a western trained first aider or ambo would be able to pick mistakes in their logic.
My real point here is not to blame yourself for taking her to potentially the wrong hospital.
Good luck

Yes, maybe I should've said it like this... For some reason I just don't trust doing stuff like this online, prefer to deal with someone face to face.violet wrote:gaffaw. they're an insurance company. of course they can't be trusted, but hopefully they are less dodgy than some.DonCalzone wrote:This is by far the cheapest quote I've ever seen at only 400$ for the basic coverage! Yes, DonC, I am a bit like you. I actually try to avoid insurance even though it is often a necessary evil. The companies can so easily find away out of paying out. Good luck in your search.

The website quotes me 2000$/year for minimum coverage for a 24 years old.
Did somebody try to have a quote ?

I have two friends working at Calmette. A heart surgeon and a nurse. I am sure they would be happy to check the situation out. They speak English.
PM me if you need me to talk to them.
Kind Regards

Thanks to a forum member who went out of his way for a perfect stranger, I now know what has happened.
Yalin has now passed away, she was still being kept alive on a respirator, but there was no hope of recovery. She had suffered massive liver failure, the Doctors said they could give her some drug that might keep her going for another few days, however it would not be a cure and she had no hope of ever waking up. I did not want them to do that, but it was too late anyway. As we were speaking she passed and they took her off life support. She is, as I write this being prepared to go to the Pagoda.
I want to thank everyone here who has contributed and a special thanks to the forum member who went to Calmette on my behalf, I will never be able to repay the debt, I only hope to one day be able to shake your hand and maybe share a drink, Thank you.
