If I see a Khmer doing it and I have the time, I pick it up and give it back to them and ask them if they respect their country. Of course, they say yes, so I ask them why they pollute something they love.
Cue the stupid grin.
It seems, however, to be improving.

ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.
I was behind a mini taxi van the other day with all the fucking goggle eyed peasants looking out the window like they had landed on mars. We came to a stop and some hick dumped a plastic bag full of rubbish out the window . not even on the kerb side but on the inside lane. I followed, picked it up and at the next stop rode up next to the open window and dumped it in his lap.

It's actually less bad then it looks: Except for really in the middle of nowhere, there is always a poor local collecting these things and earning some riels when handing these in for recycling.scoffer wrote:Sad but there is a lot of truth in your comment.vladimir wrote:They used to joke in SA that the plastic bag was the national flower, I think it's true for Cambodia now.
On my recent trip I was chatting to a lass in Vietnam who was studying to be involved in the tourism industry.
She was my driver on a rented bike and we were driving through the hills in Danang.
We stopped at a junction to decide which road to take so she drank the last drops out of her water bottle and tossed it into the bushes.
I then asked her why she did this ? No answer was supplied.
I made her go and pick it up.
She sort of understood my position but could not understand why it should apply to her as it was only 1 bottle.
I suggested to her that she multiply 1 bottle by each person in Danang for just 1 week and then she would understand my point.
Unfortunately I don't think she was able to fully process the concept.

That's true for cans and plastic water bottles, not so much for flimsy plastic bags full of half-eaten shit.v12 wrote: It's actually less bad then it looks: Except for really in the middle of nowhere, there is always a poor local collecting these things and earning some riels when handing these in for recycling.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.

Carrying a plastic bag in Australia will only last 20 seconds until self destructs..... 20 years in Cambodia it seems....Lucky Lucan wrote:That's true for cans and plastic water bottles, not so much for flimsy plastic bags full of half-eaten shit.v12 wrote: It's actually less bad then it looks: Except for really in the middle of nowhere, there is always a poor local collecting these things and earning some riels when handing these in for recycling.
Bump! (Is that what we say when we are re animating a thread?)
Just re read this thread, some of it quite funny, some a touch sad, but mostly put a smile on my kipper and made me realize, I do like living here!

It's good to see Detroit Muscle putting so much into his posts again. I think his last 10 comprise around 30 words in total.
I remember this thread! Just reread it - lots of useful and funny posts. A few almost forgotten characters too (^inluding you DM )

He made a post in another thread containing only the single word "C*nt." I'm not sure who it was directed at and I deleted it.

If Dagenham were here he would make a sarcastic comment about Detroit Muscle and demons and falling off wagons and jokingly make a drinking gesture while saying 'glug glug', and you would ask him not to take the piss of DM because it's not fair.
But he's not here, so that won't happen.
