ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.
Yes, its annoying the addicted posters acting like ..well kids,it gets beyond acceptable.
The readers non members here hugely outnumber the members Vlad GZ and now Scob are turning them away with the nonsence.

God Damn fuckers...... after reading through the latest posts in this thread, I feel like I need a drink! :O
Everything is fine. I am doing a lot better. I have made the choice to drink a handful of times since I posted this. Mostly on holidays. Compared to my 1 bottle of whiskey every day routine I was stuck in, this is a 10 fold improvement. I am A LOT happier and so are the people around me, especially those who care about me. I can't lie--Being sober is fucking boring! So boring, but the improvements overall in my health and happiness far outweigh the boredom.
The biggest challenge was keeping busy. Once your brain is clear to think on its own and you come out of the drunken haze..... you find that you need to keep busy. Boredom is a trigger for most, including me, so I have tried and found new things to fill my free time with.
This will be the last time I update this thread.

Anyone who doesn't like Capitalism is a pathetic loser. God bless the USA and no place else.

And update after some time if you would.
AA specifically says that if you can do normal drinking
that this is great. Some can. Be one of them.
I call bullshit on that. AA advocates complete abstinence. Period. Double Period. An addict should not indulge. Ever. Or they go right back to what brought them to AA in the first place because why? They aren't "normal drinkers".Florida wrote:Welcome back DM.DetroitMuscle wrote:

I thought that you passed away Florida. Scoby misses you badly...
I love fish and chips with vinegar in newspaper!!!
AA might recommend that, but that's not to say DetroitMuscle shouldn't be applauded for moving from a very destructive bottle of whisky a day drinking problem to something which now seems much more manageable and in control.
That's a massive step forward, and good luck to him.

They only suggest complete abstinence if you are a self admitted alcoholic with a desire to stop.Dagenham wrote:I call bullshit on that. AA advocates complete abstinence. Period. Double Period. This suggestion is not meant for non-alcoholics or those who can drink heavily without the negatives of addiction.
AA also suggest if you don't think your an alcoholic that you could try a bout of "controlled" drinking and see how it goes.
Note that these are suggestions from AA and not diktats - it depends on the suffering alcoholic and his spiritual progress whether to adopt these suggestions.
Point taken. But wait a minute?rob77 wrote:They only suggest complete abstinence if you are a self admitted alcoholic with a desire to stop.Dagenham wrote:I call bullshit on that. "Alcoholics" Anonymous is designed for who? Alcoholics! Not the 500,000 other variants of drinkers out there.
Hello? Them others aint got no problem...they don't look to AA for guidance..

I am afraid to admit I am agreeing with Dagenham on both points
I guess that bauerin and D'ham enjoy a certain amount
of bliss out of their ignorance. Enjoy !

Personally, I don't think he deserves much of an applause.
Isn't this a picture perfect example of the cycle all serious alcoholics go through in their life UNLESS they stop?
They hit rock bottom.
They stop drinking.
They convince themselves that they have everything under control again.
Everyone congratulations them.
They are now confident they can have a few random sips here and there, you know, on "holidays."
People continue to congratulate them.
They start heading towards rock bottom again.
They hit rock bottom.
(Rinse and repeat)
The other option:
They hit rock bottom.
They STOP drinking for the rest of their lives because they know it's like playing Russian roulette without spinning the cylinder again every time they drink.
They live happily ever after.

In defense of DM,
He got help.
He worked the program (this thread is a result of the program)
He noticed and liked the life improvements.
He knows AA will be there if he needs them.
Now he wants to live his life.
It is like he got a yellow card, a warning. He will be
a better drinker and still a better person.
The AA folks were very pragmatic. They realized that if
a guy can walk the line (it is a lot of work) then that would
be great.
If it goes like Z says, he will then have a new commitment to
the total abstinence idea. (it is a lot of work too)

He is either a guy who had a heavy drinking problem out of boredom or an alcoholic - and those are 2 different issues. In the first situation what DM is describing now is fine and good luck to him. In the second stance, it is exactly how GZ and Dagenham describe it. There is no way back from alcoholism, and the only way to control it is zero alcohol - forever
