The front page stories used to be really really good reads. Not even talking about my own offerings, but the stuff that goes back to 2005 or so. Now there are no prurient stories oozing with lust, debauchery, betrayal, and a shit load of beer. Now you can read a pedestrian piece about some guy taking his girlfriend and every relative she has on holiday. you can read about the newest southern Lebanese restaurant, just in case you've come to SE Asia for middle eastern food.

Yes. 2005-2006 I was living in nondescript city of a nondescript Asian country, and I had no internet at home. I'd download story after story from the archives, and read them whilst drinking shit beer and wondering why I was living where I was instead of there. Really, really great stories. Is Mac still around? What was/is his non de guerre on this forum?gavinmac wrote:The Mac Hathaway articles were very good.

Those who date bargirls seem to invest considerable psychological effort in removing the stain of being bargirls in the first place. The first task of many men upon commencing a relationship with a bargirl is to transform her into the Western ideal of an Eastern wife. And it’s not easy.
Yup, should make for some interesting reading. It’s amusing sometimes to hear the newbie sexpat go on about the virtues of Oriental girls, with their stereotypical traits of quietness, submissiveness, and tolerance of infidelity. They come here, they say, to find the perfect girl. But they end up with slappers whose idea of a laugh is sticking pool cues up fat sextourist bumholes.

OK, I'm out. Ya got me - I am, in fact, his sockpuppet (NOTE: I did not mention "his" name in this post)...he is me and me is him...GMJS-440 wrote:Cambods sock puppet shall post no more.gavinmac wrote:I'm going to start deleting every post from Dagenham that mentions Cambod. His user name was "Mac", he's living elsewhere in Asia now, but drops back here a few times a year. He was over a couple of weeks back. He doesn't post here anymore as he got bored with internet forums at the wise old age of about 27.nightmare.believer wrote: Is Mac still around? What was/is his non de guerre on this forum?

I still like most of the frontpage articles... Pedro, Gavinmac and a few others can really bring an idea/experience to life.. Meds first (I think) piece for the frontpage was also a very good read..nightmare.believer wrote:The front page stories used to be really really good reads.......
I first stumbled across this forum in 2007, while searching for something or other before my first trip over, Been coming back to it pretty regularly ever since.
I think the passing of Henning changed the forum more than most appreciate, and probably posters like horse and such also left a mark when they move on or stop contributing.. after all its the content that shapes the container when it comes to forum such as this (the style of moderation also comes into play..).. I still feel that one can attain good advice and answers here and its getting better all the time in this regard.
I have always felt that a section should be available for more grittier and less family friendly content (ie. The felger Friday thread) and a more flexible moderation approach applied to this section of the forum.. after all, the CPN this ain't...
As for posters.. glad to see bonez is back on form.. the post regarding speaking Spanish at a police stop was classic bonez.. hilarious. I also ( and seem to be alone on this.. ) miss posters like koastal and taxiboy..
Many posters here contribute something unique and interesting.. many are just wankers, some just crave attention.. some are all of the above.. some just leach.. (probably a bit like me.. I am an expat.. just not in regards to Cambodia.. none the less, I empathise and relate to many of the trials and tribulations of living in a corrupt foreign country with a greedy and seedy powerbase..)
All in all.. good job KiR and mods.. the forum is a good one..
As an afterthought.. tomorow is my birthday.. if I put $50 behind the bar to start us off... who's up for a little get together?
