2 Cambodian "Anonymous" kids arrested
2 Cambodian "Anonymous" kids arrested
PPP Frontpage today.
Two 21 year-old members of Anonymous Cambodia arrested after an 8-month long investigation by the police helped by the FBI.
They've been charged with computer hacking based on the criminal code and face 1 month to 2 years in prison and a fine of up to $1000.
What are the chances for the charges to be dropped or for the court to be lenient?

I would say they are in a bit of trouble only because the FBI is involved. America trying to out-stretch its judicial arm across the globe, again.Joon wrote:PPP Frontpage today.

Maybe the Cambodian cyber crimes department is better known as the United States FBI?BirdBrain wrote:I wonder just how much input the Khmer police had in the investigations. Do they even have a cyber crimes department?

Obviously the Feds found these guys. Khmer cops wouldn't be able to find their own arses with both hands and a map.
Twitter: Not my circus, not my monkeys - I sold #K440
This is the first domestic computer crime charge, is it not? They're probably fetching some juridsiction on easy targets. I'm surprised they weren't caught faster, their OPSEC sucked completely:

These clowns were more dangerous to themselves than anybody else when they even started.
the coordinator of the attacks, a Cambodian national who provided his name only as “Black Cyber,” said Monday in a Skype interview.
(This Black Cyber boy was arrested.)he said using a blacked-out webcam and computer software to distort his voice for fear that the call would be intercepted by U.S. intelligence agencies

They have CamCERT operating under NIST but their best capability is to translate Joomla! and Microsoft advisories to Khmer. Their founder runs some security blog where he posts about stuff like automated Iranian defacement pages like they were Stuxnet. Bunch of tea gurgling conference wanking whitehat lamers.BirdBrain wrote:I wonder just how much input the Khmer police had in the investigations. Do they even have a cyber crimes department?

Very local-flattering wording.
ירי ילדים והפצצת אזרחים דורש אומץ, כמו גם הטרדה מינית של עובדי ההוראה.

It looks like this arse is perfectly positioned to take a big shit on GSM.
The arrested kids were reportedly picked up by plainclothed cops from the Ministry of Interior Department of Security at the SETEC university. The same blue cloth boys that normally run anti-narcotics errands for the DEA.
My qualified guess is that the FBI did very little outside their comfortable leather chairs at the embassy. Skype and Anonchat IRC logs probably lead to, amongst others, IP addresses with themselves and their schools as registrants. After all the kids did very little to remain Anonymous, what took the cops 8 months?

I'm actually impressed that any Cambodian kids are good enough with computers to do anything that bothered the FBI.
What did these kids do, tag the FBI in all their Facebook traffic death photos?

They probably had to try to explain that the internet is more than just Facebook and porn.qq wrote:...After all the kids did very little to remain Anonymous, what took the cops 8 months?

V for Vendetta?
They did leak some Acleda credit cards but that would nowhere interest the FBI to this extent. I suspect that we'll know what they got in return in the very near future.gavinmac wrote:What did these kids do, tag the FBI in all their Facebook traffic death photos?

Yes. If in doubt, throw them in prison. Isn't that the FBI's moto?qq wrote:V for Prey Sar
Looks like most of this relates to cracks on the gov's databases. "No evidence of terroritst attacks." Fantastic. But let's ship them off to Gitmo anyway.
