All that I can work out from google translate is that the body was discovered at 9am this morning and that the police haven't released the name as yet. It seems to be saying something about the woman or her husband working for UNDP.

I wonder which hapless and innocent foreigner the bastards will try and blame for this. Maybe they'll say it was an attempted murder suicide by the one-year old child.

Only happened this morning so details are still sketchy (as they say). I can recall a couple of similar murders years ago of foreign (Asian) women in their Phnom Penh homes and in both instances the perps were known to the victims and were night guards.

There's no strong enough words for that. I hope the baby could be saved. Poor little one. That's awfully distressing.

Makes me extremely angry to hear/see news like this. Now that I'm a father, this type of evil hits close to home!Joon wrote:There's no strong enough words for that. I hope the baby could be saved. Poor little one. That's awfully distressing.

According to google maps, house 172 on Norodom boulevard is ironically close to the Ministry of Interior, next to the Tai Ming Plaza hotel. It's a posh area normally.
Either a robbery or crime of passion...

Or a burglary gone ugly. It's all speculation, we'll have to wait for more news. It's horrible. The father apparently was on a mission in Sihanoukville, just imagine getting news like that. I hope the baby will be ok, fucking 1 years old. My sympathy goes out to the husband and family.jacobincambodia wrote:Maybe a robbery then.keeping_it_riel wrote:jacobincambodia wrote:This is sick. If she or her husband were working for the UN and living in a top dollar freestanding house in a very expensive part of town, it's almost certain they'd have a night guard on duty. That would be my first line of inquiry.Joon wrote:According to google maps, house 172 on Norodom boulevard is ironically close to the Ministry of Interior, next to the Tai Ming Plaza hotel. I just walked by the place and, if I've got it right, it is not very near the MoI. It is off Norodom, a few hundred meters north of Mao Tse Tung, in one of those rabbit warren neighborhoods near ISPP. Lots of coppers still there. They won't let me peak through the gates so I can't tell what sort of house it is or how "posh" it might be. But it is a neighborhood with a lot of NGO/UN/IO types living there.Joon wrote:According to google maps, house 172 on Norodom boulevard is ironically close to the Ministry of Interior, next to the Tai Ming Plaza hotel. The Services or Porky Pig are sorely missed. This is one instance where his insight to both translation and the importance of bringing such vital news to the fore was so invaluable!
