is it any clearer what happened, or are we unlikely to ever know more than what was stated earlier?

They were already embalming him...too late for anything substantive now.violet wrote:is it any clearer what happened, or are we unlikely to ever know more than what was stated earlier?

May Peter rest in peace. I didn't know him well. He was certainly too young to die. I think he had just finished his M.Sc. degree and was on his way to better things.
A lesson to learn here is to make sure your partner knows how to contact your health insurance provider in an emergency. I have an envelope with the instructions and details of my policy and who to contact if I have an accident. My in Laws also know where to find it if we both have an accident on the moto and are incapacitated.
Better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it.
Your family/partners don't need to be figuring this out under stress while you are unconscious.

sure would be garage bar pleasure and will put a few kegs on alsoscobienz wrote:Garage is the obvious place, if tarariverboat is amenable. DM, I'll talk to a few people and we'll tee something up. I'll get some soundings on timings etc also. I believe Sambo might be in town soon, so it would be good to have it while he's here.
In the meantime, let's keep this thread for its intended purpose for the time being.
RIP my friend I guess we wont be catching up for that beer at least not anytime soon I hope.
Thoughts are with your family. To young to exit this world. RIP mate.

For some reason, when we were leaving the morgue, this song popped in my head when I said bye to Peter. Says a lot of what I am feeling.

Yep, I agree.
I refuse to go out with nothing more than a whimper followed by a small farting sound and a shit stain on my bed sheets..
Just thought I'd share that with you.

Nothing but an opinionated tourist. The Pope spends more time in countries than I do ! It is also not my place to comment on a gentleman's dress. A real 23 minute wonder, that obviously knows little about ovens and cooking in Cambodia.
I was looking forward to reading KIR's next post, surreal.
Thanks for the entertainment Peter.

RIP Peter. We never clashed despite being at times on 2 very different sides of the fence. I remember the first time we met about 10 years ago , it was with LPB, in the jungle bar I believe, the garage'former avatar. There were already forum wars at the time but we ended up burying the hatchet shortly after our initial encounter.
We had our differences and I seldom agreed with his views or actions on the board but I totally respected what he had achieved. The best we can do for him is to continue and make his legacy thrive.
He'll always be remembered as the main founder of 440, a controversial figure until the very last day but mostly a truly unique character who did shape some of the current expat community in Cambodia.
My thoughts also go to his young wife in this difficult time.

Peter would have expected the rumours of his demise to grace the pages of 440, but he would be rolling over in his grave if he knew that twat-flannel LaudJohn would be the one making the announcement.
Peter was one of the mad ones, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes; one of the few remaining lunatic Phnom Penh expats who have made this place interesting for the rest of us. He was an utter cunt. If he was on your side, he was an incredibly likeable one. If he wasn't, well, a fair few of you know what that is like. And if he was your friend, you would have experienced both.
We almost lost him a few years back. I can't quite remember his ailment, but he had been out of action for about a month. I met up with him (or a skeletal version of him) at Garage shortly after his scare. He seemed to have a new lease on life. His strength / alcohol tolerance were way down and he was manning the playlist. As I was heading out for my usual Friday night of debauchery, he chose to stay. He put this track on and stopped me, having me listen to this bit - twice:

My deepest condolences to his widow. Rest in peace, Peter. I will see you in the next life.I can still remember
When your city smelt exciting
I still get a whiff
Of that aroma now and then
I feel for LP. Didn´t do anything wrong from my perspective and must be feeling awful today.
