What was Peter's favorite drinking hole in the past few years? The Garage bar? Was that Rehabb place starting to grow on him? I would like to suggest that K440 and "The other site" all put the shit aside this weekend and we all meet up somewhere and have a good time while remember Peter.
I would like to just throw out that I am willing to donate a small sum of $ toward some food/beer..whatever in honor of a man that some of us loved and loathed.
I think it would be cool to get a donation/"cover charge" jar going to collect some money for his wife. I don't even begin to know Peter or her that well, nor their financial situation. But the last thing someone needs to worry about when losing their spouse is stupid hospital bills or a few months of lack of a 2nd income.
Forgive me sincerely if this is out of place. Just suggesting an idea. Regardless of how you felt about Peter, I couldn't imagine how his wife must feel.
Scobi, GM, Joon... if this is out of place or the wrong timing... just delete the whole thing.

Just to also note that it was the General who first took notice of Peter's wife's desperate tweet last night at 4am, and did his best to contact all the necessary people. If it werent for him passing on info, I wouldn't have known to go there this morning. He was also the one to contact the embassy in the middle of the night, and alert them they had a citizen in distress at the hospital.jm wrote:LTO, Felgerkarb and I arrived at Calmette about the same time this morning. Peter had already passed and had been transferred to the morgue from which we've recently returned. His missus was with embassy staff attempting to identify and contact next of kin.

It's not a bad idea DM, and from my side 440 would be happy to pay for a keg or two if something like this happened. My only concern is that this weekend might be a little early, and wonder if we should wait for the dust to settle. I could be totally wrong on that and happy to have that view blown apart.
I have no idea where he drank lately. He didn't seem to go out much, and I certainly never saw him out after the sale. The only two places I met him were Garage and Larry's Bar. I doubt he would have ever been in Rehabb (so to speak).
I'm less confident with the idea of contributions through entry for his widow. It might come across as a bit patronising. Peter always seems reasonably financially savvy to me and I would imagine she is cared for. I guess someone could reach out to her in a respectful way and find out.

I agree 100% looking back on the "collections" for his wife. I talked to a few people and it seems that Peter took a few steps to ensure that his wife was left off decent in financial terms. So scratch that. You also bring up a valid point about this weekend perhaps being too soon.scobienz wrote:DetroitMuscle wrote:What was Peter's favorite drinking hole in the past few years? Name a date and place and my lowly TEFL teaching ass will chip in a bit of money. I only met Peter twice and never met his wife...but, I just hope that even being , well, DetroitMuscle, someone who knows me outside of K440 would make sure my wife was holding up fine if something like this were to ever happen to me. Love or hate, at this point, I feel like Peter, much like myself, would only give a damn about how the woman he loved was doing after he was gone.
When the time is right, just ugh... I dunno. Make a thread or something?
I will be shutting my mouth( fingers) for the day.
Cheers to everyone, K440 and CEO who stepped up today. Some great people living here in the Kingdom.

Yes of course, sorry LTO.jm wrote:I'm sure you meant to include LTO in that. Even if there wasn't much or anything we could have done for Pete we all recognize how hard this is on his missus who deserves all the support she can get from those who knew Pete, whether close friends or not.Petrol Head wrote:You and Felger are saints. Pete was the one who pushed me to do Garage, it would certainly be appropriate when the time is right. From one of Pete's playlists.

Don't blame me I voted for Sanders
Garage is the obvious place, if tarariverboat is amenable. DM, I'll talk to a few people and we'll tee something up. I'll get some soundings on timings etc also. I believe Sambo might be in town soon, so it would be good to have it while he's here.
In the meantime, let's keep this thread for its intended purpose for the time being.
