How long before Cambodia 'gets under your skin?'
How long before Cambodia 'gets under your skin?'
Before it gets into your blood. The point when you feel you're settled here. The point when you feel your home country is weird, backward and alien, and Cambodia is completely normal.
For me it was about the 10 month mark when I found out Cambodian girls love the smell of Brut. This scent was always ridiculed in my home country, along with old-spice. Brut is a bit like a Skoda car. But the girls here go crazy for the smell. And I've always secretly quite liked it, but would never risk wearing it on a night out back home.
When was your moment?

You just blew my mind. I think I've got an old green bottle of Polo at home. Next time I'm bringing it.Rib wrote: For me it was about the 10 month mark when I found out Cambodian girls love the smell of Brut. Stetson, Drakkar Noir, Obsession -- I'm bringing all of them. These 22 year old hostesses have never smelled any of them.

Be warned - every time someone buys me aftershave, my 20something sister-in-law nicks it and wears it until the bottle's empty.gavinmac wrote:Stetson, Drakkar Noir, Obsession -- I'm bringing all of them. These 22 year old hostesses have never smelled any of them.
I came, I argued, I'm out
I did too with my ex-boyfriend's cologne so that I had his fragrance around me. Also because I thought it was cool to throw off balance other guys by smelling like them.andyinasia wrote:Be warned - every time someone buys me aftershave, my 20something sister-in-law nicks it and wears it until the bottle's empty.gavinmac wrote:Stetson, Drakkar Noir, Obsession -- I'm bringing all of them. I can never keep my own cologne. When I come home after a trip I buy her a bottle of stuff she wants and I buy one. Problem is that when she's finished she takes mine. Mine for some reason lasts a lot longer than hers. Might be because she puts it on every 4 hours so she's always smelling good.andyinasia wrote:Be warned - every time someone buys me aftershave, my 20something sister-in-law nicks it and wears it until the bottle's empty.gavinmac wrote:Stetson, Drakkar Noir, Obsession -- I'm bringing all of them. I wonder what essence of 22 yo hostesses is like?
Really for me it was about a year and a half or two years. partly because I only spent about 6 months here because of my work.
I'm the coolest guy I know.... shit I think I need some new friends!
Extremely bothersome when my brother in law douses himself with my $60 Givenchy cologne.
Polo and Drakkar - some old school favorites of mine.

Many, many years ago KiR asked me to bring him a bottle of CK One cologne from America and he'd reimburse me.
I told him that I actually had a small-ish bottle of CK One from a Calvin Klein set of assorted colognes, someone had given it to me as a gift or I had bought the set to get the Obsession. I told him he could have it for free.
I bring the cologne to Cambodia, and as I used to do, I went on a bender my first night back in town, and yada yada, a Walkabout girl stole the cologne.
I told KiR, he was quite displeased, I don't think he believed me.

I can almost vouch that that story is true. I can remember years ago taking a girl from the Walkabout, and she smelt like ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, C
I wonder if Ricecakes uses perfume as well.

Golden information. I didn't know they liked Brut.

And Hai Karate, do they like that one too?
