Bloody loved Theme Hospital back in the day.
I finally weaned myself off my 15+ year addiction to Football Manager last year and had no time for any gaming for months. Now my craving's getting the better of me but I'm all nostalgic for the old times - Toejam & Earl, Road Rash etc etc.
Mostly I like strategy games, and being andysocial I'm not into joining others online so I've recently downloaded and installed ye olde Command & Conquer and Ages of Empires. My long-term aspiration is to graduate up to Total War if I ever find the time to master the scale and complexity.

They don't have Road Rash but they do have a lot of the old nes/snes/megadrive classics.
Never been into gaming, always had plenty of real stuff to do.
However, I've got nothing against it. My boys will be four in September. They are already more comfortable with using their tablets than I ever will be and play various games on them. But I'm thinking to get them a games system at some point.
The last one I owned was an Atari. So could anyone with a bit of knowledge about these things suggest at what age I should do this and which one would be most suitable to start off with?
Cheers.

Nvidia. Every AMD I have owned has burned out after a while or was broken right out of the box. Never had that problem with Nvidia.

I'm not a dedicated fan of either and would purchase the best deal at the time. That said, currently Nvidia seem to be the performers.Felgerkarb wrote:Gin&Tonic wrote:A real gamer would only ever recommend a pc. The big problem then is Nvidia or AMD

The last gaming machine i built was for the make a wish foundation. The budget I had to work with was great but not huge. I used 2 x asus trix 980 cards in sli. This machine wouldn't even break into a sweat with 4k gaming on ultra high settings.
Sadly, it was a gaming machine to die for.

I used to be really addicted to:
But then I lost my mind when this was launched:
It has all been downhill since then.

I hear you, LPB. Then this was too sophisticated to handle, wasn't it?

The speed and ferocity of it made my hands tremble the one time I attempted to play it.Joon wrote:I hear you, LPB. Then this was too sophisticated to handle, wasn't it?

What's wrong with Xbox360/0ne and Playstation3/4? They seem to work ok and you don't have to fuck around with $1000 graphics cards etc.Gin&Tonic wrote:A real gamer would only ever recommend a pc. The big problem then is Nvidia or AMD
The only games I've got into at all in the last few years were Red Dead Redemption , GTAV and Far Cry 4, but to be honest I haven't a whole lot of interest anymore.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
I realize that PCs are better, but i'm a big fan of the plug and play configuration of consoles. I had a Xbox 360 in Cambodia and switched to a PS3 and then a PS4 in Singapore. The PS4 so far has been underwhelming in terms of good games. The only one I somewhat enjoyed recently was The Order, but mostly because I'm a sucker for dytopian victorian steampunk. I've recently bought the Witcher 3 on the strengths of the reviews.
My favourite games on Xbox 360 and PS3 were Mass Effect, Bioshock, Dishonored, Red Dead Redemption, The Last of Us, AC: Black Flag, Fables: The Wolf Among Us, Batman: Arkham City, Rock Band to name a few. So mostly single player games with a strong story. I also used to be pretty hardcore into FIFA, especially Ultimate Team, but haven't played in a while after breaking a bunch of controllers out of frustration.

A tree born crooked will never grow straight.
What I hate about gaming is that I was playing CS1.6 since I was 13 and when I once had the opportunity to play CS:GO I was getting my ass handed to me by 13 year olds. I spent so many hours and yet I was never able to get a kill death ratio above 1.0.
Andyinasia if u like strategy then checkout Europa Universalis III.

You dudes need to get with the program and move with the times.
Zuma is where it's at right now.
I was quite fond of online pool many years back, but i knocked that on the head after i got into an in depth conversation with what must have been a kid in Yunan province in China. The kid asked me (via text under the game) ;
''How old are you?''
I'm xx
Long pause.....''My Dad tells me i have to go now''
Made me feel like a pervert.
