Seeking depression stories
Seeking depression stories
Hello all,
I am a reporter for the Post doing a story on depression among expats in Cambodia. I am looking to talk with someone who has dealt with depression here. If you're interested, please message me. Anonymity will be respected if preferred.
Cheers,
Brent

You might want to use the search function. There have been a few threads about this, most recently this one.

Sure, but he needs to interview people and ask them questions and preferably get their names. He'll probably also interview a local expat psychiatrist/psychologist. Quotes are important to reporters. From what I hear.scobienz wrote:You might want to use the search function. There have been a few threads about this, most recently this one.

It's an interesting chicken or the egg question though. Does life in Phnom Penh make Westerners depressed, or are depressed Westerners drawn to Cambodia? Do expats drink so much because they are depressed, or are they depressed because they drink so much? Heavy stuff.

''Seeking depression stories''
Aren't the depressed guys pretty easy to find as they are all - ''drinking 50 cent beers and wearing wife beaters* on Riverside''?
* with the exception of John Mclane.

^^ you got that all wrong. the depressed guys are walking up n down the riverside or sitting on the benches watching those who will become depressed sooner or later ( but not yet ) drinking cheap beer.

You could start by reading the life is bored thread. Soon have you opening a vein.
You need something to work on in order to stop being depressed. People with no focus and nothing to strive for tend to get depressed. Then they get their measly bank accounts raided by hookers, and they get even more depressed. Then they drink and get even more depressed.
I think a man dies when he has nothing to live for. If you have nothing, no love or no hope, your mind will tell your body this, and your body will shut down. Then you will die. So it is best not to be depressed. You can log on to the internet and type complete bullshit if you want. It makes me feel a little bit better.
I have a feeling he got the story idea from reading those threads, same with the guy who was asking about the expat deaths in the other thread.scobienz wrote:You might want to use the search function. There have been a few threads about this, most recently this one.
