Work Permits on the rise
http://www.phnompenhpost.com/national/p ... work-cards
The government has said that it issued 25000 work permits in the first six months of the year, 5000 more than in the whole of 2014. It seems people are taking the issue much more seriously now following the 'noise' of the last year or so.
And 1800 people deported for not having the necessary documentation, 98% of whom were Vietnamese. The remaining 2% were likely Sihanoukville overstayers.

I know I'm unloveable. You don't have to tell me. I don't have much in my life, but take it - it's yours.
Reports still swing wildly between "HR did it all for me", to "I had to bequeath my first born daughter to wed the head of Immigration on her 16th birthday to get them to accept the forms".
25k out of how many? There's allegedly 80k foreigners with valid residency documents as of the last census, so about 5-6x that living here without?

You people still don't have work permits? Christ on a mother fucking cracker.
You deserve to get locked up at this point. Knowingly breaking the law for what seems like a decade now.

My posts are just jokes, maybe they're rude, offensive, and politically incorrect. They're not my opinion, viewpoint, idea, or judgement, but they're just fucking jokes so lighten up.

You really are a cunt aren't you. How do you suggest anyone not actually working get one? And why would someone not working need a work permit anyway, the clue is in the name. Maybe it's the government that needs to get its act together, not the people doing it a favour by spending their money here.GMJS-440 wrote:You people still don't have work permits? I signed my work permit at the end of January and got it back today.
Romantic Cambodia is dead and gone. It's with McKinley in the grave.
Where does GMJS suggest that people who don't work need to have work permits? You're putting words in his mouth and getting morally outraged for no reason.walkjivefly wrote:You really are a cunt aren't you. How do you suggest anyone not actually working get one? You don't need a work permit if you're not working. How could you? Work permits are obtained and held by employers, not employees. It's as simple as that.

Personally I have never been without one.. I can't see the point in risking being deported and /or fucking up the name of my company...
For those who still don't have a work permit, other than thinking you are being some kind of rebel, I would like to know why? What are you hiding?
I don't think there is an easier country to move into, get a valid VISA and get a real work permit sorted out in a few months... fuck, have any of you even tried to get a Work Permit in Bangkok?
For me it's simple, if you want to live and work her tow the line and fucking do the right thing.

Because people without employer can't get one? The law on work permits is like a book with the first 5 pages of each chapter missing - incomplete and thus pretty useless.Chuck Wow wrote:Personally I have never been without one.. Then why the angst? If you don't have an employer then you don't have a job and aren't working, so you don't need a work permit.
What's the big deal?

I don't think anyone has been asked for proof of a work permit when extending a visa. Or did I miss that?

It has been explicitly stated by the government that work permits will be a requirement for extending an E visa more than one year, one time. If they stick to their word, and you have an E visa and don't have a work permit, you have one renewal left, one year more. Then you'll have to do something else. Perhaps by then they will add a new sort of visa for retirees and such so permitless people have some way to stay. Or maybe they'll forget about the whole thing by then.the_purple_turtle wrote:I don't think anyone has been asked for proof of a work permit when extending a visa. Or did I miss that?LTO wrote:Visas.
