Do You Enjoy Returning To Your Place of Origin?
I return to my place of origin annually between the months of October and December for a cash injection which allows for a simple to moderate existence living and traveling throughout the region for the remaining three quarters of each year. Where once there used to be aspects of my return I enjoyed, I now find the whole process a complete pain in the ass and would rather not have to endure it, but sadly my financial reality dictates I must for the present. If it weren't for my false guilt or overactive sense of duty to see my family, it'd be straight off to the bush and into lock-down to earn the dough then back out asap without a second thought - there's now really nothing I look forward to about going or being back there.
Do others see returning to their place of origin as something in which they look forward to? If so, what aspects of going back do you enjoy?

Nothing changes when you're away. People /familywill be happy to see you for about a week then it's all back to normal.
Hopefully I won't have to go back for at least 5 years, dependant on money. But then I'll probably go back to Australia or Transylvania. Or Ireland. Oh and maybe Italy.

last time i returned to the states to work was in '97 an that only lasted 10 months
I left in ''78 and from then till '97 never spent more than 2 months there
since 98 have kept that to less than 2 weeks every other year of whihc i love
can spend hours walking around the malls and supermarkets
Must be nice having the option to return somewhere to work.

I've been away for 8 years but I miss it dearly and am in all likelihood going back this year.

I returned 15 years ago, and did not enjoy it at first, but it's OK, and my health is rather better than it was in Cambodia. I think I'll live longer than I would have if I had stayed. But I really want to go back to Phnom penh for a visit.

I love going back to the UK for a few weeks. Great beer. Fish and chips. Football. Cheese.
Imager a couple of years away I get homesick and miss it badly. I fear a trip is imminent.
After two weeks there though I have had enough. It's time to leave again.

Place of origin? I have no idea where that is. Born in Germany but I don't remember my time there. Closest to home is Kenya but it is not my place of origin. 20 years in SE Asia, not my place of origin either. Where does that leave me?

I was asked years ago in another country what I missed most apart from family and friends. It took me a while, then it dawned on me while watching sport one night with work colleagues........game day!

I am good for eleven days, then remember why I made my life in Cambodia and can't wait to get back.

I think you'll live longer if you can go home and spend time there, see your doctor and your dentist, visit family and friends. If you have people back in Barangland who love you and care about you, this will recharge you, as it were, and fortify you for living in Cambodia, which, I think you'll agree, tends to be a very physically demanding existence.

what makes u think this?
Unless i was in an accident i never saw a dr in the states
never saw a dentist after i was like 12 ( both Dr's an dentist's here are excellent and far cheaper than the states)
except for brother, sister and daughter.... no family
my family an friends are here
Although i only lived in Cambodia for a year, never thought it was that draining and had to leave to recharge and living here in Thailand is not draining at all
