Fantasy Premier League 2015/16 Season
It's that time again for footie (or 'soccer' to those of you from a nation producing better players than England) geeks to prove their mettle and join the Khmer 440 league for the forthcoming season.
Last year we had a very competitive league with a cast of almost 50 - I see 20 have already sneaked into this year's league without me even announcing it yet! Newbies are always welcome - don't worry if you feel you have a less-than anorak knowledge of the English Premier League or even football - you can get just as far on blind luck as you can spending hours pouring over stats (well that's what I tell myself when I sink into mid-table obscurity!)
Also, we have plenty of good-natured banter on this thread - never a nasty word is said.
The site is right here http://fantasy.premierleague.com/
Old players can just resubmit last season's details; new players just register and sign up (it's free).
Once you're in, the Help tab should answer all questions as well as explain the rules and points system (oldies - have a look at some new features, in particular the 3 'chips' we get). You start by spunking 100 million GBP on a squad of 15 players.
The price list is here http://fantasy.premierleague.com/player-list/
The prices won't change before the season begins but new players will be continually added. You can change your mind and make unlimited alterations until the season kicks off (which is now a fortnight away - there's really no rush).
When you've sorted a provisional squad, go to the LEAGUES tab and choose to join a league. Type in the code
13343-18364 and boom! You're part of our Khmer 440 league.
And this year there is a trophy for the winner, in the form of a bottle of Johnny Walker Black, courtesy of Scobienz
Let the games begin!

You're right Andy, we're far too nice to each other, let's fix that!andyinasia wrote:..Also, we have plenty of good-natured banter on this thread - never a nasty word is said..

They looked good yesterday...in a no pressure friendly against a French team. Wonder how they'll manage to secure 3rd (or 4th) this season?Spigzy wrote:You're right Andy, we're far too nice to each other, let's fix that!andyinasia wrote:..Also, we have plenty of good-natured banter on this thread - never a nasty word is said..

Vidal for less than £30 million looks like a bargain for Munich. Imagine if Arsenal had a midfielder that could put in a tackle.

L'Arse seem to have a settled squad and could actually sustain fewer than normal injuries this season. As such I see them and United in a genuine 3-way scrap with Chelsea (City lagging behind in 4th and 'Pool nowhere).

Arsenal are looking good for a champions league spot at least, not that there is any point whatsoever them entering the European Cup but all the same.
Bottle of black label, nice, not that I was anywhere close last year.
Prem Predictions
1st Liverpool
2nd Chelsea
3rd Citeh
4th Arsenal
Top FF striker Benteke
Midfield Coutinho
Defender Ivanovic
Keeper Courtois

^Woah! You putting your 'money' where your mouth is and picking 3 Liverpool players? I'm not an Arsenal supporter but I am taking the huge risk of picking 3 Arses. No Liverpool cover!
I came, I argued, I'm out
Yep, three LFC in there, Liverpool's year this year and RAC's Reds will rule the FF
Great Midfield options coming out of the pre season - Depay, Fimino, Payet, (intriguing) Ritchie, Sterling, Ozil, Walcott (pre season form), Hazard, Silva, Sanchez (tried and tested).... and on and on...
I think for the first time in a couple of seasons I am starting with an attack oriented front 8 any one of whom could return me a hattie!!!!! (They wont of course )

Yes, I see a lot of value in the midfield and only half a dozen desirable strikers (until this year's Kane or Austin emerge).
I'm starting with 2 strong strikers but can see myself down-scaling to one premium striker and playing 5 across the middle.

I quit playing fantasy leagues when Cov City were relegated. Thought I'd wait for us to get promoted before playing again but I've been waiting a while. What's the deadline for joining up?
